I purchased a vehicle from Drivetime on July 1, 2016. My first payment was to be taken out on July 15, 2016. It was suggested that i do autopay and I signed up for it. I received confirmations that my payments were received but on August 16, I woke up to my vehicle being towed. I asked the driver why and he stated it was because of lack of communication. I only owed $460. So I went online and saw through their website that the payments didnt post. I immediately went online and paid the $460 so I can get my truck back. When Bridgecrest opened, I spoke with a representative and he told me it was too late and that I would not be getting my truck back. He state that they tried to call me a total of 18 times. I explained to him that i just switched cell phone providers and I havent had a chance to set my voicemail up. Also, I am a letter mail carrier and I walk all day. I am not allowed to talk and walk on my cell phone due to the fact I work on route that has alot of dogs roaming. I explained this to the man. He saw where I had paid the arrears andstated it was still too late. He apologized and told me it was nothing he could do. I explained I came to this company because i am going through a reopened divorce case with issues of child custody and I needed my vehicle. I only had this truck a total of 42 days and it was repossessed.  I paid $1800 down and all that was done in vain. I am just wanting my vehicle back. I wasnt given a chance at all. I feel this is very unprofessional and this company threw rocks and hid their hands!!!!

I was receiving texts and emails acknowledging my payments. No need for me to check if im getting confirmations. My bank apologized but refuse to give a letter stating it was their fault. Im wanting the company to respond to me NOT you!!! Why dont you go put your rubber boots & pants on and fly fish!!!!

No, YOU Should Re-Read!

It was YOU who stated YOU owed $460!  To make matters worse, it was in the opening months of the loan!  Its was THE LENDER who decided they didn't want to continue to do business with YOU because YOU showed yourself to be too much of a risk, right from the start!

Agree with Jim on this

Just because you set up an auto payment from your account doesn't mean you don't have the responsibility to check on your payments to make sure the auto payment occurred.  Any number of things can happen to prevent your payment from processing to any creditor.

I am not a fan of DriveTime by any means. But you can't blame this non-payment on them. Something prevented your payment from processing and you could have corrected it but chose to keep your blinders on rather than behaving as a responsible adult.

So You Were Late

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, August 22, 2016

By your own admission, you were late making the payment in the first few months of the loan.  As such, it was YOU who turned on the collections machine up to and including a repo.  The only reason you were doing business with a subprime dealership and lender is because of your self constructed reputation of not paying your bills elsewhere!  I guess all those other times it was someone else's fault as well.
