Eastern Motors Manassas Dissappointing ***Caveat Emptor*** Manssas Virginia
It is CAVEAT EMPTOR (LET THE BUYER BEWARE) at Eastern Motors. I am willing to accept the responsibility of not scrutinizing a used car, but I am dissappointed that a dealer would care so little for the safety of their customers. The people at Eastern Motors are willing to inspect and pass a dangerous car risking the lives of their customers to make a buck.
On 4/26/2104 I purchased a used 2011 Honda Civic with 18,250 miles on it at the Manassas location of Eastern Motors. The salesperson, Cory Lee Cooper, was personable and enthusiastic, but a little pushy. The showroom was pleasant and clean. The rest of the Eastern staff were accomodating. I decided to take the car, so Eastern Motors inspected it, put a "Passed" inspection sticker on it and sent me on my way. At that point it would have been a 5 star overall rating, but it was what I couldn't see and where I would have to trust Eastern Motors that turned this into a losing transaction. Remember, integrity is doing the same thing when can't see what you are doing.
In mid July, only 60 days after the purchase, less than 3,000 miles later, but after their chinsey 30 day warranty, the car began to make a noise in the brakes. I took it to a mechanic and was informed that the rear brakes were so worn that the front brakes were taking the full brunt of slowing the car and the car needed new brakes all the way around. The mechanic said, from his experience there is no way that the brakes could have passed inspection at the time they did. He said we should go straight to the police and report theinvalid inspection sticker.
I confronted Eli Copty, the General Manager at the Manassas location of Eastern Motors, about the situation. His response was to yell, "Get the F*** off my lot" aloud several times in their showroom in front of all of his potential customers.
I called Eastern Motors CustomerCare line and spoke to Danny, who claimed to supervise the Customer Service line. He listened to my story then said it was not their problem. So much for "Customer Care" at Eastern Motors and Direct Car Buying. It's a farce.
Good luck to all who chose to purchase from Eastern Motors, but make sure to get an independent inspection of the car before you sign anything or give them any money. They do not care if they put your life at risk.
