Ebates advertises a percentage cash back refund for its members who purchase items through their site from a list of retailers. Ebates currently offers a 3% refund for purchases made by their members at Homedepot.com
On September 29, 2011 I purchased a hot water heater through Home Dept online after visiting the Ebates site as required. The cost of the purchase was $1,002.00 which should have entitled me to a cash back credit of $30.06. My account was not credited and numerous requests to Ebates customer care for credit were denied.  First they questioned how I paid for my item (credit card) then they send me some ridiculous email that has no basis in fact:

Complaint #93091
Hello,
Thank you for your patience. After researching your order, it has been determined by the merchant, that it was not credited to the Ebates shopping program. The order was credited to another affiliate site, not Ebates. As a result, Cash Back cannot be awarded. We realize this is a disappointing outcome, we too would have liked to have earned credit for this order. We hope that your next purchase will be credited to Ebates without an issue.
We deeply apologize for any misunderstanding.
Sincerely,
Thomas

I sent then the order confirmation form Home Depot and they are still denying my credit.  I have no idea what they mean by 'another affiliate site'.  It is just a smoke screen to avoid paying a large credit.  I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will continue to expose their fraud online in my spare time.

Ebates.com offers Cash Back to our members who shop online.

I took some time to research this complaint. I see that Thomas, mentioned in the complaint, continued to work with this Ebates member. On October 31st, he was able to add the Cash Back to this member's Ebates account. We are sorry that a complaint was filed before we were able to resolve the matter. At this time, the member has been paid via check for this order.

Sincerely,

Ebates Customer Care
