On May 2008, I set up an account on ecampus.com to sell textbooks.  In one month, I sold 58 books on ecampus.com which generated $2100 in sales.

Since my textbook titles were all the immediate previous editions to their corresponding current editions, I advertised my books under their current edition ISBN stating that the previous edition was highly similar to its current edition and will work for the buyers coursework.  This is a factual claim as publishers make few changes from one edition to the next outside the cover of the book.  The benefitbuy from me for 40% of the cost of the current edition, and receive the previous edition book that is 90-98% the same as its current.

eCampus emailed me after I sold $2100 worth of books and stated  all funds allocated to you have been forfeited.   Meaning, they took and kept my $2100 in sales.  They claimed that my comparing the previous edition to the current edition under the current edition ISBN was a serious violation of their policy.  However, they admitted that the verbiage of said violation wasnt added to their web sites policy section until after they forfeited my $2100.

I can understand ecampus.com desiring their sellers to conform to their platform standards, but to steal my sales because they disagree with my selling strategy is theft, plain and simple.  And to add an addendum to their listing policy AFTER they forfeit my sales is sinister, immoral, and illegal.

I offered to settle for $550 to recoup part of my costs.  At this point, they began to ignore and block my emails.

I would steer clear from ecampus.com.   Countless complaints have been logged with the BBB and Kentucky State Attorney Generals office regarding ecampus.coms bad business practices, theft, and sheer incompetence.
