Firstly, employees are encouraged to lie to the police in order to prevent being escorted off private property. Echo provides the employees with an outdated list of names and addresses which everyone is aware is never right. Employees are supposed to use this information to tell security and police that they are "seeing clients" in order to gain access to gated and private communities where soliciting is not allowed. Echo cannot claim that its employees are independent contractors even though they do work on commission because theose employees are held responsible and can be suspended and face consequences for things they do at any time during the day before end of day meetings even if those employees are miles away from their assigned territory and not wearing and clothing associated or doing anything associated with the company. If Echo were to say that they do believe the information they give police to be true then there is an even bigger issue. Echo gives this list of names and addresses to employees before they pass a background check. In one instance there was an employee who was fired after his background check showed that he had been found guilty of criminal possession of a gun as well as other drug charges resulting in prison time. This man had been going door to door, entering people's homes as a representative of Echo, for weeks.

Furthermore, this company is misleading in the interview process to the point where I left my paying job at the promise of making $600 per week and becoming manager within a year. The salary never amounted to more than 200 a week at best. The company hides this by not paying out the first paycheck until after three weeks of working. The employee thinks that they are making way more than they are until that first paycheck. During these three weeks the company higher ups are indoctrinating you into thinking that this is a wonderfull opportunity and that you'd be crazy to leave. What is really crazy is working a 70 hour work week for less than $200. That is less than three dollars an hour. Working this many hours also makes it hard to look for another job, leaving the new hire stuck with no way out.

While I did not put any money into this job I did put a lot of time and hard work into door to door sales as well as paying for my own gas and transportation to areas which were sometimes an hour away. The way the company is structured is that the new hire works until he gets promoted to "corporate trainer" then he starts interviewing and hiring people himself. Then once he has hired five people who have hired three people each he becomes assistant manager. This all of coarse results in something resembling a pyramid..

Echo is a branch of Cydor which is known for being a multi level marketing scam, but the way that they use branches with different names which are just starting out to get new hires is sneaky. You can google Echo Business Solutions and it seems legitimate, it is not until you uncover that it is a branch of cydcor that some red flags pop up.

Hello. This report has been very surprising to management. At no point in time during what appeared to be a happy employment, did anyone express such misgivings. We regret the bad experience had and wish it could have been brought to our attention in person. Yet many of these things are incorrect and so this obviously deserves a response. 

First of all, let it be stated that the general happiness here at Echo has been due in large part to the extraordinary relationships developed amongst employees and from management to employees. All these accusations do not stand to the character of the company nor of the people we choose to employ. 
 
But let us answer them one by one: 
The title refers to a pyramid scheme which is mentioned especially at the end. The details written here are incorrect unfortunately: it is not true that someone has to hire five people who in turn hire three people in order to be promoted. What is true is that this is a management training program. Learning to do payroll, learning to speak in public, and learning how to interview are important skills for a manager and in order to show these skills have been acquired, a certain number of each has to be demonstrated. That does not mean that we are a pyramid scheme but that we are based on numbers as are most companies. All major companies have structures and generally there are less people in charge than performing all the tasks. This gives every business a pyramid-like structure. 
 
As regards the suggestion that employees lie to the police, that is something that if witnessed should have been reported! Our standings are legal and there is no place, furthermore, no need for lying in the least. If asked to leave, our policy is to leave. 
 
With what was said about "hiding" information about pay, the three weeks is the time it takes to be paid from our clients. It is impossible to expedite the payment before the company is paid. There is no deceitful intention in this at all, it is a simple logistics that is explained from day one. 
 
Next, the lists that the past employee mentions of customer database is in a process of continual updating. Just last month there was a huge renewal and this occurs on a constant basis. 
 
The incident mentioned of an employee failing his background check is true, only in that he did indeed fail his background check which forced us to let him go.  No new employee is allowed to be independent until a rigorous background check and knowledge based test are passed. This is something we do to protect our customers and our company's liability and has been in place from the very first day we opened. Furthermore, we have a very strict policy about interaction with our clients which does not allow entrance into homes. 
 
The writer of this report, to whom I still have the utmost respect, also affirms that he only made $200 a week while being promised $600. Previously however he states that this is a commission based job. (Which is in part true. There is a phase, once training has been completed and we are sure people "know enough to make enough" that is commission based) $600 a week is indeed the average that people make in this phase, obviously dependent on performance. If said employee was not performing at an average level, an average pay cannot be expected. We have had employees that averaged 700-1100 a week and so it is indeed possible. 
 
In regards to the management opportunity within a year, we have already promoted someone to assistant management in a mere 6 months. Management is right around the corner for her and for two others. It is not a dream, it quickly becomes a reality for those that choose it. We stress from the very first interview that this entails hard work and it is no surprise that those who choose to work hard have been and will be well rewarded. 
 
In terms of the work week, a 50 hour week is what is required. 
 
Our interviewing process has recently been revamped in order to ensure the highest level of transparency. We are going to great lengths to make sure that we can continue to change lives and futures and enable people to rise to success based on honest hard work. 
 
To end I just wish to state that we do indeed still respect this ex-employee and wish him all the best.  We hope that he can do the same.
