I own a manual hyundai Tiburon and went to 7091 Hurontario street Economy Lube for a basic oil change. After getting that service done i was told that my transmission fluide should be changed because the fluide was black and should be clear, and also recomended i get rust proofing done for winter. I had a lady servicing my car i was pretty impressed and naturally more trusting that she wont rip me off. I said no to the rust proofing and yes to oil change and transmission flush. Afrer my service was done the bill was unusually high so i asked to see the bill and saw they charged me for the ruat proofing which i specifically said no to and my father who was there with me getting a drive clean test can vouche for me. So they removed the charge and the girl was umming and awwing making it look like i wanted a freebie. So $150 dollars later my car was making a strange noise settle at first and progressively louder week after week after the oil change. Because i recently moved to Toronto i rarely use my car, so subway was my major means of transportation never thought too much about fhe noise, until i went to visite my dad in Missisauga and drive on the highway. The noise was significantly loud, enough to freak me out and pull over and drive straight to my mechanic. The car popped out of gear and my car stalled and sounded like something fell off from under my car. I put on hazards got out saw nothing wronge started the car andd drive with my hazards for 20 min and barely made it to my mechanics where it died on the street. He took a look, i told him about my transmission flush and oil change. Immediately he found the problem, the oil was low, and was told that the plates in the car were rubbing together and driving short distances you wouldnt notice the noise or damage thats being done, but as soon as the car is warmed up and driving in higher gears this is when the damage to the transmission and clutch is happening. I called Economy lube and was told to bring the vehicle to the shop and that a district manager would meet me there and take it to their mechanic to take a look. I called CAA towed the car they quickly changed my oil thinking this would fix my problem. The manager on duty maury drove the car adound the shop said it was fixed i could hear the crippling soundd i heard before the car died in front of my mechanics shop. I said no its not are yu a mechanc and he said no i said please take a drive with me and lets listen to the noise im referring to. We barely made it around the shop in second gear. He said bring it to your mechanic if the damage is caused directly from the oil change to call back tomorrow. I said it was but ill be more fhen happy to get a second party to asses the damages. My mechanic took the car to harmony auto which is a transmission specialist who would concure with my mechanics observation only because the manager replaced the oil and filled the appropriate amount can not deduce it was a direct cause without taking the transmission apart. Im not going to spend my money repairingthis car based on faulty work. The problem with e onomy lube is there employees are not all mechanics. This problem could have been easily avoided if proper training or liscenced mechanics oversee each repair. Im very flexible and realize mistakes happen i followed all there protocols gave them plenty of time to rectify the problem made many phone calls to the manage general manager cuatomer service and owner Chris Mutter with no avail. Not one person called me back. I will proceed further all i want is for the company to take responsibility for their mistakes and fix the damage they did to my car. For everyone drivind a standard car please be aware when you get a oil change or transmission flush different steps need to be taken versus an automatic car. The car has to be driven in every gear to be properly lubricated and then more oil has to be added this.was not done fo my car and thats why it was low on oil.
