I needed to send a fax to a city agency immediately. I signed up with eFax for the 30 day free trial offered. They offer eFax and eFax Pro. While signing up it automatically takes me to eFax Pro. Still saying I get a 30 day free trial. Then I attempt to send a fax, after a few tries, I look into the faq's area to see if I was missing some part of the process. I learn only through that section that sending faxes is not free. I continue because I need to send this fax. The interface does nothing to suggest that it is downloaded to send or that it's sending. I try several more times. It never shows up in the 'sent' area.
I then got charged for the service 'after the 30 day trial'. I contacted eFax to cancel my 'subscription' and complained about the faulty interface. They apologized. Said my document was faulty. I am quite proficient and computer literate so I know that is not an accurate assessment. Then I asked if they would provide me with the dates I signed up and the date that I was charged 'after the 30 days' since they had my account information in front of them. I had to ask three times and the agent never responded to that but kept offering me 'special prices' to continue; two separate offers, the last one - before I stopped the chat was an offer to get up to 160 free send and receive faxes with no monthly contract.
What prompts me to write this complaint is because I tried eFax about a year ago and although the interface behaved the same way, including nothing showing up in the 'sent' box, the agent assured me it had gone through.
Because the agent, this time, kept ignoring my request for dates I promised I would report this on a consumer complaint site...and then he advised he was going to close my account and asked if there was anything else he could help me with. What?
