We were scammed by i believe the same company they advertise online financing and my fiance called the 800# He spoke with a guy who couldnt wait to pick up our truck. He quoted a worse case scenario of $1698 plus a $650. rebate and financing so we allowed them to pick it up they also stated we would have it back in 2 days. When they picked it up they sd we would get an email about the financing which we didnt until day 4 and only after on day 3 they tell us it is $1998 with the $650 rebate which means it was $2398. Then we finally get the email on day 4 and there is no financing they want $1398 wired into an acct and the balance of 600 at time of pick up, oh the original quote also stated they would pick up and bring the vehicle back since we lived so far away. we did not plan this but if we didnt do this we would lose the truck. So we scraped up $1100 and wired it and after a quick yard sale an a loan from a loan company we took them the balance. we would like to speak with the couple who posted this and see about a resolution to our problem. i feel we were set up and would like to do more to resolve this please contact us at lilbooton32  gmail.com

I used to Moon Light as a Transmission shop Manager. By the way Manager means "Salesman" in the Transmission business. You Got Ripped off! But maybe not the way you think.

The process is supposed to go like this:

1st Get the car in the shop (Pick Up In your case)

    2nd Test drive, Drop the oil pan to see if there is evidence of a failure. IF There is evidence. Usually large amounts of grit or shiny flakes in the trans oil pan means it will need a rebuild/overhaul.

    3rd at this point you sell the first part of the job, this is where your shop manager started to screw up.
  This first sales point is a tear down inspection and the use of the base overhaul rate as a STARTING POINT with a warning that there is evidence of Hard part damage and the price WILL be higher in the end.

  A reputable shop also quotes a inspection rate to cover their costs if you back out once the transmission is apart. So you weren't warned the base price was not going to cover the repair, there was no inspection rate, and the shop organized this so you felt you could not walk away. THIS IS THE RIPOFF POINT! 

  I saved about 85% of our overhaul jobs that balked at this point, by making sure the customer knew and believed he or she could walk away. And we were the most expensive shop in town. We used to offer to pay the tow if the customer was really unhappy. About 15% were only concerned with price, not quality and had the car dragged away. 90% of these we paid the tow as long as they paid the inspection charge.

    4th Once the trans is torn down quote a final price. Stand by it.

    5th Do the work, get paid, cover your warranty etc etc.

Finally: You may have gotten a valid repair for a valid failure. BUT the idiot Manager didn't do the sales job correctly, it is probable he didn't do his job properly because he was ripping you off. So in the end it doesn't matter if they fixed it and its reliable, they took your money under false pretenses.

I hope my description of the process will help those who are needing a transmission shop to weed out the bad ones.
