I can't believe that such services are still working on the internet.  Last November, I was invited to try EMusic services.  I thought it would be great to check out some new music online.  I confess that I didn't read all the fine prints regarding their service agreements.  However, I never believe the kind of scam that they are running would still exist on the web.

After a couple of months, I quickly realized that this service does not meet my need.  I could not find many artists that I was interested in.  So, I first thought to put my subscription on hold so that I can have time to use up my balance.  But, the hold period came to an end, without any notification, they would charge you the monthly fee of $20.99.

This prompted me to cancel my subscription.  But, prior to that, I had asked if I can cancel my account while able to log in and use up my balance.  The follow up email from the company informed me that my account has been cancelled without an answer to my question regarding the balance.  So, one would expect that they would credit me back for the balance left on my account which at the time was around $30.

After 3 weeks without any sign that a credit was posted on my credit card, I sent them an email to inquire about the matter.  I was then told that they do not refund any balance left when someone cancel their account.  Then, I was told that I can re-activate my account and as a 'courtesy' they would add $18.84 to my account.  When I inquired about the discrepancy between that amount and I had on my balance when I cancelled the service, they explained that "every 30 days your balance will refresh, any amount left, unused in your balance does not roll over to the next month".  So, for instance, if they pick $20 from your credit card for the month of January and that money was not used at all in that month, come February that money is gone and they'll pick another $20 from your card.  Really outrageous!!

And, there's more.  If I want to get that 'courtesy' $18.84, I would have to choose one of their plans once again.  And, when I do, guess what?  They would charge me for another month.  In addition, I have to pay a fee for re-activating my account.  Unbelievable!!
