My company rented an intermediate car for me for pickup at SFO international airport. After standing around for 30 minutes, we were given a Hundai Elantra piece of junk because "I'm trying not to waste your time and get you out of here".. Meanwhile they gave intermediate cars to people who booked a compact but paid extra to upgrade to intermediate. I drove the Elantra to Oakland, glanced at the fuel guage and realized that the tank is next to empty. Returned the car to Oakland (no one there, just leave your key in box) the next day. The initial contract was for $214.67 for a one day rental. I was billed $256.56 on my credit card. Tried calling them but "all agents busy, please call again". This is a bad scam company.

What you are probably seeing is the cost of a fillup. $42 sounds a bit expensive but if it was pumped from Enterprises reserves then they can charge you a bit extra. If you filled up the car before dropping it off, then the extra costs could be for cleaning. You may have been careful in your use but they would have to clean EVERY car before it goes out. Instaed of bashing them in a online public forum, perhaps you should have called them and asked why. A busy signal is not a greenlight to bash a company. If you are being charged for something such as gas that is your responsability then this post sounds like your mad because you couldnt reach a live person.
