Marty Hendricks contacted me regarding the sale of some of my timeshare units. He had a buyer lined up.  Many documents were sent back and forth which included some with the seal of Michigan on them. After having my accountant review the documents, $7698 was wired.  A few days after the wire, he contacted me to let me know he'd keep me informed of the progress.  Since then, he hasn't been returning my calls. After much research, there is no company with the name Exchange Services doing business in Michigan.  The phone numbers listed for the company are cell phones.  The physical and mailing addresses listed on the website appear to be apartments.  Suntrust Bank confirmed that the account where the money was transferred does belong to Exchange Services but could not disclose the address on the account, other than to tell me it didn't match either of the addresses I provided.  I have initiated a wire reversal stating suspected fraud but it's unclear if there's any hope of getting my money back. The only hope I have is that the account is still open.  Do NOT fall for this scam like I did.

Timeshare Resale Scams

AUTHOR: janie78j - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, June 12, 2013

The resale of a timeshare is a legitimate business. Companies agree to advertise a timeshare for a fee on their websites. As with advertising, the membership doesn't need to sell in order the fees to be legitimate. The difference between an honest timeshare resale company and a scam, is when the company falsely suggest they have a buyer waiting for their timeshare, or picture unrealistic, overoptimistic selling possibilities. And not to mention, that you should NEVER pay a large upfront fee to sell your timeshare. I recommend you to read this articles from Mexican Timeshare Solutions on how to get out of a timeshare scam: http://www.timesharescam.com/
