I signed up for a free credit report which the site said would be sent to my email address, and then I would be signed up for a credit reporting service until such time as I cancelled the account. If I cancelled before thirty days, I would not be charged.

Well, I never received a free credit report. Moreover, I never received the pin number which was supposed to have been sent in the mail to me so that I could access the account online.

At this point, I decided to just cut my loses and cancel the account. So I called the tollfree number, where I was directed to email the company to cancel the account, which I did.

I assumed that the situation was taken care of when I noticed on my bank statement that $9.95 has been withdrawn by cic credit report.

I just called the company again in an attempt to cancel the membership and met with very serious resistance to this endeavor. First the "customer service representative" told me that I had in fact received the free report and pin code in the mail. Then she asked me all kinds of sensitive information such as my credit card number and social security number and date of birth in order to verify the account, which may have been valid, but already being in the mind set of being ripped off, I was highly suspicious of it.

Then she asked me why I wanted to cancel the account. After I described to her what my experience had been, she argued with me for about five minutes before I finally became irrate and she conceded to cancel my account.

I can only hope that this will be the end of my trials with this company, but I am a little bit horrified that is hosting advertisements from a company that has been charged with allegations of fraud. Thank you.
