I need you on my side to share my story. I want to make the public aware of these health risks. I don't want anyone else to suffer from staying at this hotel, especially those with young children and small pets that wouldn't know to stay away and leave things alone that is harmful to them. I know exposure to black mold can cause a wide variety of adverse health effects. I'm concerned about the mold infestation and the utter lack of sanitary conditions at the local motel, EZ Inn Motel located at 2450 W Grand Ave. Phoenix, AZ. 85009.

I arrived late evening after 10:30 pm Thursday December 8, 2016. By the time I noticed two LARGE areas infested with mold the office was closed. Next morning I informed the manager of my problem of the "HUGE mold infestation", two used condoms, 4 used syringes, meth pipe, many broken meth pipe peaces and no internet signal, when they advertise Free WiFi. I SERIOUSLY FOUND ALL OF THESE DANGEROUS THINGS IN MY ROOM and the sad thing about it was that I didn't have to search for any of these things... Please keep in mind, I had spent LESS than 10 hours in this room and was awake for only 2 of those hours. I had found all of that just by putting away my things away and getting ready to take my pregnant fiancee to an interview. When I brought this to the attention of the lady working the front desk. She didn't seemed phased at all and told me that she'll clean it as if it was a just a simple mess thrown on the wall. She didn't offer any other solution than her coming back after we leave to go to the interview. For one I'm not comfortable with people I don't know being in my space with my stuff without me knowing what they are really doing in my space.

She didn't make any effort in fixing the problem after seeing the severity and condition of the room they actually rented to the public. With several vacant rooms I felt that moving us to another room would be more appropriated, since my fiancee is pregnant and shouldn't be forced to be around those dangerous health hazards. In fact they left a note on my door informing me that I was under charged by 35 dollars. The room was suppose to be 265 plus 50 deposit, my fiancee paid cash and counted out exact change. So I guess they charge extra for mold and drug paraphernalia. My fiancee became very sick while we were forced to stayin that room. Nasal congestion, coughing, itching, wheezing, headache, dizziness & abdominal pains. I don't think anyone should be forced into such health risks and denied the right to a different room or refund.

7 days later the management still made no attempt to clean the mold, refused to refund our money, never apologized or offered to compensate us for the problems we had. Finally after a long miserable week it was time to check out and they refused to release my deposit.. I brought my own linens for us to use and never touched the ones they supplied us with, in fact they were placed under the kitchen counters the first night..Now after checking out theywant to charge me $50 deposit because I LEFT TWO OF MY OWN WASHCLOTHS

THERE! Most absurd reason I have ever heard.. I believe that the management/employees are obviously use drugs themselves because anyone thinking that is how paying customers/guest should be treated as well as thinking that people would want to stay there with those conditions. The only reason I didn't pack up and leave was because I didn't have any more money to spend on a different room and they have a sign stating no refunds. I guess that's how they stay aflout, charge high prices for trash and if the customer don't like it, to bad they have a sign saying no refunds.

I thought the health department was responsible for protecting all of us from health concerns such as this. I reported it to Maricopa County Health Department but still have not been given any information about what the inspection dug up or if they have done one yet or what is going to happen. When I call them to follow up on the report no one is willing to give meany information.

$265/WEEK + $50 deposit. I reported this business to BBB and asked for all $315n back. I also want to inform the community to keep them out of these unsafe conditions.

Health Department Az

AUTHOR: Izabol - (United States)

POSTED: Saturday, November 04, 2017

I also remember one last pertinent detail about this case. About a week after checkout the Arizona Department of Health showed up about this false report to inspect the room in question. The room was then occupied by another guest. The Health Department asked to go in and found no black mold as falsely claimed. The Health Department asked the present guest if they found any needles or pipes. The present guest said no. The Health Department asked the present guest if they had any complaints about the cleanliness of the room. The present guest said no complaints. Our motel got a clean bill of health from the state department regarding the very same room. That report is a matter of public record. We showed the health department a copy of the written notice that the guest who launched the false complaint knew they owed the balance. We explained to the health department that the guest who launched the false complaint refused to answer the door to the staff all week because they knew they owed money and were refusing to pay the balance. Therefore they did not complain to the office, but rather the opposite, they refused to talk to the office and staff. It is noted in the health department public record file that it was a false complaint. Even the health inspector who showed up admitted that he knew it was false because "black mold" does not grow in the arid, dry Arizona climate. It grows in humid areas of the country. So all "toxic black mold" claims generated in Arizona are usually false claims. We got a clean bill of health from the Arizona Health Department from the people who launched this false complaint. Public Record.

Facts

This was a completely false report. All of it generated after checkout. At no time did this couple ever complain to the front desk or management. The opposite happened. The desk clerks on both shifts kept knocking at the door of the guest because they had not paid the full amount. They were short. The times and dates of each attempted contact were logged on both shifts. When the guest failed to pay their balance, written notification was photographed and posted on their door asking them to pay their balance. They admit to receiving that written notification, but as you can read from their own response, they never responded. And attempts to knock on their door when their car was parked in front of their room also failed. They refused to open the door when we knew they were there. Upon checkout, the room was videotaped. And compared to photos before their checkin. Each room is photographed everyday after the maids clean the room, with a backlog of thousands of photos for each room, burned on DVDs for storage. Upon checkin, They had one towel and 1 bathmat, but no washcloths. 4 days before their checkout a new package of washcloths from the linen company was opened and the maids were given 12 new washcloths to put in rooms. That stack of washcloths, brand new vanished from the maidroom. Stolen by one of the guests.

Upon checkout of the guest making the false "rip off" report, their room was videotaped because there were 4 of the stolen washcloths in their room. Theses washcloths were property of the motel from our linen service company. They were not the possession of the guest who filed this false report. They were 4 of the 12 brand new washcloths stolen from the property maidroom. And no, the guest could not have purchased them because our linen company does not sell to individuals. On top of that, one of our towels was cut and torn. Videotaped on checkout. Also upon checkout, they did not turn in the key. The fact was, the morning shift never saw these people until the day before they checked out. Each attempt to knock at their door in an attempt to get them to pay their remaining balance was ignored on purpose by these 2 guests. They never spoke with the morning shift. They never launched a complaint. They simply ignored each knock and ignored the written notice demanding payment.

On the day before their checkout, the front desk saw their car pull in and ran to their room to catch them before they entered the room, since they ignored the knocks once in the room. They acknowledged that they still owed. Said they didn't have the money. Even on that first face-to-face confrontation, recorded with a cell phone recorder, they still never made a complaint about the room. All this false reporting happened days after their checkout. Their deposit was not given back because they had not paid their balance. They knew they had not paid their balance. Their deposit was not given back because according to the photos of the room before checkin, they had no washcloths, yet 4 of the 12 stolen washcloths from our linen company was found in their room. Those washcloths were not theirs. They came from our linen company stolen from our maidroom. And the remaining towel was cut, with scissors. And torn. Then when they didn't get their deposit back, they launched several false reports. We're not even sure if the woman was even pregnant. She didn't tell the evening clerk she was pregnant on checkin. And they never spoke to the morning clerk ignoring all knocks and attempts to get the remaining balance owed on their room.

As for the meth pipe they photographed, it was the offices understanding that the 2 were meth addicts and they photographed their own meth pipe to launch the false report. They never came to the desk morning or evening to complain about a meth pipe in their room. And when the 2 had stayed on a previous occasion, it was rumored that they stayed up all nite. Not sleeping. Which tge guests admit in their own complaint. They didn't sleep. The meth pipe most likely belonged to the guest. They never came to the desk to complain about it. After they checked out, the area under the sink they photographed was bleached. It was not "black mold" which doesn't exist in the dry, arid Arizona climate. The stain did not come up with bleach, because it wasn't mold. It was something black the guest had smeared on there. The entire bathroom vanity and wall had to be re-painted. And it was repainted with HiGloss Rustoleum white paint. I have the receipt for the paint, which was paid for out-of-pocket by the morning shift. I chose HiGloss Rustoleum paint on purpose, because everything wipes off Rustoleum HiGloss paint. Even if someone tries to smear car grease over it, it will still wipe clean.

My rebuttal is back by photographs of the room before their checkin, video of the room after checkout, photographs of written notice of balance owed, a recording on a cell phone of the guest acknowledging they still owed money the day before checkout, and a receipt for the paint used to cover up the black stuff (not mold) under their sink. I'm a very organized and meticulous person. I do not tolerate false reports by meth addicts that stay up all nite refusing to answer knocks at the door by the staff during the day, when their car is parked outside and we all know they are in the room.
