Family Credit Counseling Services/ Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Major Rip-Off Credit Counseling Company BEWARE! Lauderdale Lakes Florida

Signed up for this company to help in controlling credit card debt and reduce all charges, finance, late fee's, percentages, etc, etc. Was told after no contact for 3 months, that company had been down because of Hurricane Katrina (in Florida?)...Although other members have written statements that they were being help after one week of power being turned on after the beginnings of Katrina went over Florida.

I'll give the benefit of doubt but, 3 months? Took 6 months (after I called several times to Family Credit within 5 1/2 months after the fact) for all my creditors to respond to the initial letter sent out by Family Credit, to allow me and my creditors to take part in this debt counsolidation company (Family Credit).

This letter was to be sent out the first week of me signing a contract (shutters at the word contract) and nobody called, even after I notified them nothing has happened and none of my creditors have even got a letter. Everyone of them (creditors, once they received a letter 6 months later) declined and I had 6 months of late fee's not being waved. Was told by Family Credit that, they didn't know why it took 6 months to send the letters out and they would take care of it. O.K., everyone knows that credit houndogs will sell your account many times over to other companies who try their scare tactics to get the money from you. (YOU and only YOU) are responsible for notifying your credit consolidation company of the initial change of hands with your creditors and debt collection agaency.

I did this, they never even changed this on my computer listing when I called this info in to them. They were sending payments to the wrong people, even after I called and told them the company no longer has my account as it was sold to anoth collection agency.

I have had nothing but, trouble with this company. I am in the process of fileing a class action lawsuit with others who have been scammed. Please Beware Of This Company!!!!!!
