I've had many run ins with Fed Ex, lately. Generally, with them leaving a package that needs a signature on my back doorstep or, better still, on my neighbor's back doorstep (and vice versa). It annoyed me, of course, but what happened yesterday was the final straw.  I purchased a Rolex, and it was to be delivered the next day, via certified mail, from the jeweler. I told him of my concerns and he assured me it was no trouble. It was to be delivered by 10:30 am.

Well, 11:30 rolled around and I'm seething. I call and get a story of the idiot driver not being able to find our house (on a short street, with ONLY 3 HOUSES, by the way). I told them of the other issues, as of late, ("I don't know anything about that"... they never do) and to send him back out. They gave me the line of BS about "between now and 4:30." I said "No, we PAID for this" and threatened legal action. They said they'd call right back. In the meantime, I called the jeweler and informed him of what happened. He was furious, and called them and gave them a similar speech, also with the threat of legal action.  They called back asking for directions, visual cues, etc. (again, the sole purpose of this company is to deliver and figure this kind of thing out) and said it would arrive within half an hour. I told them I would go stand in the yard in 98 degree heat, if it would make it just a bit easier.

As soon as I walked out the door, the aforementioned idiot was rounding the corner, then he did so again, and again… all while I stood their as the very obvious visual aid of an angry person just out for a mid afternoon scowl. I had to practically jump in front of of the godforsaken truck to get him to notice me. The driver, who looked about 12 years old, finally pulls over and takes out what I hope is my very pricey, brand new watch. Now, this would've been a fantastic time to do a little PR work on behalf of himself and the company that inexplicably hired him, but no. The first words out of his mouth were not "I'm sorry", but rather "Your house is mislabeled"...

I'll never get over that statement, as it perfectly demonstrates what is wrong with this company and many humans in general- a flat refusal to accept responsibility for their actions. Yeah, my house has only been sitting on that slab since 196freakin'7!!! But no, not his fault for being too lazy to do his job or look at our clearly labeled mailbox or door, not his fault for trusting the GPS that fails to convey that I don't live in my neighbor's dog run, gotta blame it all on the city of Marshall, and, I suppose, us, for building there and not at our "proper address". His follow up to that, when all the other screw ups that had taken place were mentioned, was to note he'd never been here before. I told him I hoped he never would be again. I signed, took the package, and he was on his way to botch another delivery.

I do a lot of business that involves certified mail, I will never again use Federal Express for anything and will instruct colleagues that they won't either when it comes to me, if they wish to continue doing business together.

Thanks for trying to spin this into class warfare and inadvertently reinforcing my point.

1) The price of the item, and the item itself, isn't the issue. Would you be happier if it had been a $40 Timex shipped certified mail? How about a check that decided whether or not you could afford the mortgage that month? I chose to note this item because of the severity of consequence to all involved, should it be lost. I could've gone on about my neighbor who had perishable goods left in her yard to rot. I could've mentioned my neighbor up the street, who is not, in fact, a wealthy man, who had $20,000 worth of merchandise for his small business left on his front porch with no signature. I could note a friend in DFW who had her laptop (sent by Fed Ex certified mail… seeing a pattern here?), left on her door step and quickly swiped by her friendly neighborhood Meth Addict. It's not just affecting me, it's not just affecting my neighbors. Judging by the never-ending list of Fed Ex delivery complaints, it's affecting many throughout the continental US. I could keeps listing as this has been going on, here at least, for about 8 weeks now, which leads me to…

2) A very important key word in the above rant, as it relates to my area and me, is LATELY. Up until about May, no courier has had much of a problem finding my residence or following the rules of getting a signature. Within the last 2 months, they've left food out in 100 degree heat, they've left merchandise I'd like to sign for, and not see vanish, on the back doorstep, and now it's denigrated into not being able to find my house at all. At the very least, we have a green driver who's likely to cause them a lot more trouble, and judging by the response of customer service, they back him 100%

3) The only people that wrongly have money in this particular case are those at Fed Ex. Money they throw at people too foolish to perform the one service the company offers. If you read this as a personal attack on drivers, that's your own personal issue, and seeing as it struck a chord, you're likely exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm so very sorry that I busted my hump to get to my position in life and decided, just this once, to reap the benefit of it. Maybe if you'd made better choices in life, you'd be able to afford the item you so greatly begrudge me for having and not be a self described "stupid truck driver". I'll even give you a wonderful tip that might help you in that quest to better yourself- Despite your intent to "ask", you never once used a question mark. Literacy is important. God Bless.

Just because I happen to be a stupid truck driver.

There must be some problem with your address if they keep having problems, more than twice I would say there is a problem.

Now for my stupid question, how much is a Rolex, 10 grand or more, I really don't have any idea, I have just heard they are pricey. Now my next stupid question, what do you even need an expensive watch for if your not even going to leave your house to buy it, look at the wall clock. Think about it, if you are to busy to go out and buy it, which I also understand, then you are going to be to busy to show it off, which is why you bought it in the first place.

LMAO, this is more proof that the wrong people in the world have the money.

Good luck with your next shipment and God Bless.
