About three months ago I had a problem with the starter on my '97 Nissan Pathfinder. To fix this problem I took the car to Auto Care Express because I thought that replacing the starter would be an easy thing for a mechanic to do. While my the car was at Auto Care Express they contacted me to inform me that on top of a new starter I needed to change my break pads, back shocks and muffler system. Grand total, $1790.32.

After trying to get a full understanding of what the problems were exactly I eventually gave up trying to understand their explanation (it was hard to understand their confusing descriptions of the problem. I think this is part of their scam). I asked one simple question to base my answer off of. "Is this all that is wrong with my car". They replied with "Yes" so I gave them permission to fix my vehicle.

Guess what happened a few days after I picked up my vehicle. The Starter wouldn't work. I ended up taking the starter back three times before they finally produced a car with a working starter.

Now fast forward to this week. Monday I noticed my engine was making noise and my brakes were squeaking. I took it back to Auto Care Express to find out why my new brakes were squeaking and why my engine was making noise. They told me "The calipers on your brakes are broken and your engine belts are bad". Total cost, $878.95. I again asked them, "Why didn't you notice the calipers when you replaced my brake pads? Why didn't you notice the belts when you replaced the starter?". 10 mins of broken English poor explanations later I ask them "Is there anything else wrong with my car?". "Not that we can tell" they respond. "Can you check please?" I ask. A day later they say nothing else is wrong so I pay to have the car fixed.

The next day I pick up my car and the noise in the engine is still there. I ask them to take a look and they pull the car into the garage, tighten a few bolts, and the noise is reduced. I hear a faint noise and ask them if the noise comes back, will they fix it. They say "Of course" so I drive away.

The next day I notice the noise is just as bad. Now I am furious. I have just paid ~$2700 on labor and my car still sounds bad. I take the car back and point out the noise and they decide to take the car in for another day. The next day they call me back to let me know there is another problem that will cost $400 to fix. That is the last straw, I picked up my car and decide to fight back.

I have contacted my credit card company and am filing a case against their charge for poor service. I am taking the car to Nissan to have all work done reviewed and analyzed. This analysis will serve as a foundation for a civil lawsuit against Auto Care Express. I am also going to call my local news station and try to have a "Scam" report done on this company. I am pretty much going to do everything I possibly can to screw them the way they screwed me.

Do Not Use Auto Care Express for ANYTHING. I wouldn't trust them to wash my car.

Here is another ripoffreport.com article I found about Auto Care Express. Thank you ripoffreport.com!

i am a ase certified master technician have 6 years schooling for auto repair
I am not going to slander the business but I was a service writer for them many years ago in sebring fla and i seen the manager spray wd-40 on a ladies shocks and i seen her leave with a 1500.00 repair bill from a 12.95 oil change she needed maybe 200.00 worth of service out of that
thats why i have my own shop and as far as the dealer goes all i can say is shame on them but i am not surprised
be carefull of corprate companies but dont go to shade tree shops either always get more than one price your car is worth the time and i would hope your cash is too

Apparently I over reacted. This report should be closed. I had the work done by this place reviewed by Nissan and they claim that the work done was satisfactory. This place has also decided to fix the final problem for free. With this action I would like to remove my complaint. Apparently ripoffreport does not offer this feature. (I highly recommend you add it).
