Recieved a letter stating I was a winner in the DE-LOTTO Australians Sweepstakes lottery. Entitled to the sum of $250,000.00.

I called the phone number given, and was told to take the check in the amount of $4,867.00 and call back. He requested that I wire $2,870.00 to their account to pay applicable government/bond fees.

The bank informed me that the check was fradulent and that this was a scam!

The individuals listed on the letter are Bryan Howard(claim agent) and Nicky Actele(promotions manager).

On the letter head it has 2 addresses listed, one in US and one In CAN. Phone number listed on the letter is a canadian number.

The First American Title lotto is a Scam...

AUTHOR: D - (U.S.A.)

I am an employee of First American Title. This scam first came to light in early March, 2007. If at all possible, please relay this message to others. The following is an e-mail that was received by all employees of First American Title:
InfoSec Alert: Lottery Scam Using First American Name

From Firstam Chief Information Security Officer [from.firstam.chiefinformationsecurityofficer@firstam.com]

To: All Employees

Attention First American Employee:

The Corporate Office of Information Security was recently alerted to an apparent mail scam that may be directed at consumers who have used First American's services. According to reports, consumers are being notified that they have won a foreign lottery, and the process of collection involves a check that appears to be from First American.

First American is in no way associated with this activity, and we are actively working with the U.S. Secret Service to investigate and put a stop to the fraudulent use of our name. If you receive any inquiries regarding this activity, please inform the individual that First American is not involved in any type of lottery and advise them to file a report with their local Secret Service office. A list of the agency's field offices can be found on the Secret Service Web site at www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml.

Thank you.
