On 2/18/14 I deposit $180.00 at the same time Avis Car Rental released a pending transaction of $379.00 and already in the account was $41.00 which made available balance of $600.00 at the time of all transactions. Transaction made after that was $238.00, $10.00, $27.00, $142.00  and $180.00 which would have left a balance of $3.00. This bank has charged: 2/19/2014Overdraft Charge $35.00, 2/20/2014Overdraft Charge $70.00, 2/21/2014Overdraft Charge $35.00. Avis was paid on 2/21/14 $136.14 (posted to my account) but another charge is in the pending stage 2/21/14 for $136.00. This bank is a scam or they just choose to step over the little people.

It happened to me too!

AUTHOR: cllilley - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 30, 2014

I completly understand what you are saying and your complaint. Maybe the best way to explain it is that it seems like this bank charges an overdraft fee for pending transactions. It's happened to me a few times, other banks do not do this.

Situation A:

4/27 current balance: $5  Avilable: $50

4/27 pending transaction cell phone charge: -$45

4/28 current balance: $5  Avilable: $50

4/28 pending transaction cell phone charge: -$45

at the end of the day (8pm) you decide to buy food, you don't have enough but you know u are getting your direct deposit the next day anyway..

8pm:

4/28 current balance: $5  Avilable: $50

4/28 pending transaction cell phone charge: -$45

4/28 pending transaction subway : -$10

4/29 current balance: $ -55   Avilable: $875

4/29 pending transaction direct deposit: $1000

4/29 pending transaction subway: -$10

4/29 posted transaction overdraft charge: $70

4/29 posted transaction cell phone charge: $45

Where did they get $70 from????? well it seems they charge an overdraft fee for pending transactions. Subway isn't yet really posted. According to the manager I spoke to she claimed that what they do is look at the pending transactions in this case $45 and $10 and the balance of $50 dosen't cover both charges so both get issued an overdraft fee.

This isn't the only situation i've ran into. It's happened with hotels putting a hold for incidentals. The transaction is always pending, never posted as it is only a hold. The hotel later releases that hold but the bank has already issued an overdraft charge. Even though the hotel was never going to collect on the hold. They are charging in advance. I had never had bank do that before.

Reality...

POSTED: Thursday, February 27, 2014

If you look at the posts in this thread in the order they were done, you will find that the OP is the judgemental individual. From your first post through your latest post, the situation has been someone/everyone else's fault but NOT yours. My posts became snitty only after you responded with remarks about me and not my message. But that's okay, I'm an adult and not let such things irritate me. But I do look forward to future posts from you. I tried to help by explaining why you got the fees. You refused to understand the explanation and now are trying to change the circumstances of your first post. Seen it a lot but always fun to see new people try the same old things.

If you want to come here and try and prove you were right by saying that it was all a mistake and all of your fees were refunded then go right ahead if it makes you feel better.

In some cases that may have actually have worked and could be believeable.  But for someone who says they keep very accurate records, it just shows how much of a BS story it probably is.  Oh and why you ask.  Well because not once did you mention anything about AT&T and a mistake.  You see if you truly did manage your accounts you would have realized that AT&T made an invalid charge and you would have made quite a point of that in one of your many updates.  But amazingly..not a single mention.  You only talk about AVIS.

And one final item...even if by chance you were refunded ANY fees.  Don't expect the bank to extend this same courtesy if this same type of "mistake" happens again.

Okay Doesn't Work That Way

Yes this is a public forum and that means that people respond that are willing to help and not judge (like you have) for one: "Here's your problem and the reason for the fees... and you quotes behind the statement. Than "Whom are you ranting to???... but I guess you are so good that you have never been in this situation like this. Now this one "To Paraphrase Shakespeare" no one was even talking about Shakespeare or even wants a quote from Shakespeare. I was not attacking a reasonable messenger but someone who think they know everything. Now to the point of my first report of 1st Convenience Bankthey have resolve the transaction it was an error between ATT and the bank.  All my funds have been returned and fees were drop.  So what you stated was wrong in my case.  I keep very good and accurate track of all my accounts. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation again and again!!!!

You posted on a PUBLIC forum. That means anyone can respond to your post. We tried to help you understand why this happened but you didn't want understanding. You just wanted to complain and to say that reality should be as you see it not the way it is. Too bad.

When you're having a discussion and you attack the messanger instead of the message, you lose any credibility you might have had.

To Paraphrase Shakespeare

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 25, 2014

....Thou doth protest too much.

Seriously you failed to answer the questions or even respond to the explanation directly giving you the answer you seem to have such a desire to get.  Why did you get these fees.  It has been attempted to show you why, but you would rather stick your fingers in your ear saying "I can't hear you", like a 2 year old who is throwing a tantrum because their favorite binky was taken away.

By you not answering those questions it is obvious that you spent money before it was available in your account, you just don't want to admit it.  Which is fine I could care less if you come back and say you were wrong..because I know you never will.  But perhaps some of this may sink in eventually where you will take this as a learning experience and never have a single NSF or Overdraft fee again.

Oh and to make this very clear.  Yes I work, and have a very good job, have my own house and support my family...probably better than yours.  But I do not now, nor have I ever worked for any bank or financial institution.  I am just a consumer like you...with the exception that I know how to manage my accounts.

AUTHOR: j2glass - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 25, 2014

You’re  right it doesn’t matter if you work for this bank or any bank, but I guess you stated right  YOU DON’T WORK so I guess mommy take care of her little boy so he can have time to talk about real working people problems.  Your posting shows nothing on why I received the fees and I don’t need your quote: "Awww poor baby, yeah, that mean, evil bank sure ripped you off" they're looking for”. I live in the real world and you live with mommy.  So STOP wasting my time and don’t email anymore responds to this quote Mommy Boy!!!  You might not work for 1st Convenience but just in case I contacted the bank and email you entire respond to see because if you do can you say confidentially!!

Whom are you ranting to???...

AUTHOR: Striderq - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 25, 2014

Guess I should have said "I don't work and have never worked for this bank". Doesn't matter if I can count, it matters if you can read. By your response about fees that weren't mentioned in my response I guess the answer is NO. But that's okay, I'm used to people lashing out when they don't get the "Awww poor baby, yeah, that mean, evil bank sure ripped you off" they're looking for.

My posting shows why you got the fees you did and that the fees are not a rip off. Just you spending money that was not available yet. Interesting that you now admit one fee was for NSF which means something was returned unpaid because you didn't have the available money to pay it.

That's okay, you keep your head in the sand and we'll keep reading the reports about you getting ripped off.

1st convenience bank monitor

AUTHOR: j2glass - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 25, 2014

Your reply was not helpful. I know what is in my account and what was charged. If I have a negative balance it would not be $308.00. I had 1 returned check NSF fee $35.00 and overdraft fee $35.00 that equal $70.00 not $308.00 or can you count. I also had $379.00 that was release back into my account and at that time $41.00 was already in the account than I deposit $180.00 all on 2/18/14. Stop monitoring reports and do your job maybe you wouldn't have bad reports.

Here's your problem and the reason for the fees...

AUTHOR: Striderq - ()

POSTED: Monday, February 24, 2014

1stcb.com/en/products/guides/FNBT-FCB%20-%20Convenience%20Checking%20-%20Clear%20and%20Concise%20Guide.pdf

We start with the account balance in your account at the beginning of the banking day, subtract holds from your account balance and make any adjustments from prior days. Next, we add credits and then subtract debits from your account balance. The following is a summary of how we generally post items and examples of some of our categories and the more common transactions we assign to each category.

ï‚· First, your deposits and credits are added to your account balance.

ï‚· Then, withdrawals made at our teller windows, transfers made with our 24-Hour Personal Account Line, online and mobile banking

systems, online and mobile banking bill payments and outgoing wire transfers are subtracted from your account balance in lowest to highest dollar amount.

ï‚· Then, card transactions and ATM transactions are subtracted from your account balance in date and time order.

ï‚· Then, ACH debits without a check number are subtracted from your account balance before other checks you wrote with a check number,

in highest to lowest dollar amount. When we receive a check number, checks will be subtracted from your account balance in sequential check number order.

ï‚· Finally, most fees and service charges in lowest to highest dollar amount.

Keep in mind that we may process transactions in a different order than you made them. This may impact the total amount of fees you incur per banking day.

You had items on hold and your account posted a negative available balance. Not a rip off, just not paying attention to the order the bank posts in. Any time you spend more than you have available, you're going to get fees. But you probably won't trust/believe this advice so you'll continue to be one in a million that pays OD fees even after being told how to avoid them.

Or...

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Sunday, February 23, 2014

This bank is a scam or they just choose to step over the little people.

- Or the overdraft fees are legitimate because you do not know how to properly manage your account.

There are some very "odd" things about your report, and the devil is often in the details which your report is lacking.

First of all you seem to deal in whole numbers.  So you had EXACTLY $600 in your account and withdrew EXACTLY whole amounts to give you EXACTLY $3 left over.  I will say if that is the case you are probably 1 in a million who are able to do that.  So for the sake of this report..let's go with that.

You say that the deposit hold from AVIS was released on 2/18.  So did you verify in your account that it was in your account and AVAILABLE?  Because it seems odd that they would release a hold 3 days before they put the real transaction through..on the 21st.   It is very possible that AVIS did not truly release the funds until the put the real charge through.

Next your deposit of $180..when did you make it?  Was it POSTED to your account BEFORE you attempted to spend it.

What was the order of these transactions?  If you were charged an OD fee on the 19th, when did you make these other purchases?  Were they on the 19th, 18th, or before?
