My husband and I applied for a low interest rate card off the internet. We recevied approval from First Premier Bank.

The cards that was presented to us were for less than perfect credit with a rate of 9.9% fixed. No annual fee, nothing else.

My husband and I have had some credit problems, resulting in trying to rebuild our credit. We both received our new cards (2) seperate accounts. Both cards had a credit line of $300.00 with $198.00 posted to the card and an available credit line of $102.00 No where did they ever disclose $198.00 in fees or a credit line of $300.00..Well needless to say I picked up the phone and called them.

I told them to cancel the cards/accounts, we did receive them they were not used and I would not pay $198.00 for $102.00 in credit. At this point I was very nice, but shortly after I was yelling "Cancel" the cards.. I was transferred and then told I would listen to why I needed to keep the cards by a so called "supervisor" Ceasar. I was then subjected to a 20 min speach on why I needed these cards. I said over and over to this manager. No,no, and NO!!

When he could not persuade me to listen and change my mind he hung up on me. Furious, I called back and asked for his Boss. Her name is Leah, never did she call me back and not only that but another customer service rep by the name of Mary said you want to report us go ahead and laughed.

Call the better business bureau here is the number. We are on the board nothing will happen to us.I swear to you this was really said and this really happened...I replied well I will report you to Rip off.com she laughed and said that site is such a joke... I was treated rudly and this company is such a rip off!!!!!!!

They think they are untouchable...Prove them wrong don't use them...They prey on people with less than perfect credit advertising to help you re-build your credit for 9.9% What an absolute joke...

If you use this company you are asking to be treated like crap by the Caesars,Marys and Leahs of the world and you will be ripped off and they will laugh at you while they do it!!!!!!!

Suggestion

AUTHOR: Benn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 10, 2010

The point here is folks is not if she did or did not ready the fine print but the poor customer service after she decided that she did not wish to keep the card.  The law and the contract that she received states she has the right to cancel the card within a specific time frame and all outstanding charges will not be "oweable".

So my suggestion is to immediately cut the card(s) up and type a letter stating that you wish to immediately cancel the card(s) per the contact agreement between First Premier Bank and yourselves.  That per the agreement that you have (need to look up the time allowed here on the contact) ___ days to cancel said card(s) without penalty and own nothing back.  That your decision per this letter is to cancel said card(s)....to add further strength, type out the card number(s) on the letter so that way there is no confusion of which card(s) were to be cancelled.  Make sure you date the letter along with your full name and address on the letter.

Then also on the same letter make sure you type the "certified, return receipt request" U.S. mail receipt on top of the letter.  You MUST send this letter with the cut up cards (taped to the letter) certified, return receipt as proof that you did inform them of your intentions to close the card(s).

DO NOT CALL THEM anymore....then photocopy the letter and the cut-up cards and keep that copy for your records.  Keep it somewhere safe since you will need it for the future.  Mail out the letter and the certified, return receipt request from the local Post Office...keeping your copy of the mail receipt and in a few days when you get the certified, return receipt back (will be green card)...staple it to the letter that you copied.  This is your legal proof that you declared your written intention to close the card(s).  You MUST keep this letter and receipt forever and ever.  Since they will either forget to close the account or pass the account onto collections.

At which time you will have proof of your claim that you declared this account to be closed via the letter and the receipt.  When you have to furnish proof in the future, remember never give out the original to ANYONE, except the courts.  Since you will need to proof this later...if you don't believe me...scroll thru the list of folks that declared their account to be closed then in a few years they have a collections agency screaming at them.

Also, if you need further help, contact your state agency that regulates banking institutions in your state.  First Premier Bank regardless of where you live must register with them and abide by your home state laws.  If they do not close your account per your request, then they are in violation of the state financial laws and ask the state for help.  Here in my state of Wisconsin, First Premier played the same game with me in the past and after numerous certified return receipt letters, it finally got tired of it and contact the state for assistance.  The state asked for copies of the letters and slammed First Premier Bank hard for not closing my account.  Vacacting all past due amounts (including late fees, over-the-limit fees, etc) accurred due to their not closing the account.  So do not stand down....do what I suggested and prepared for these idiots to be a pain for awhile but knowledge is power.

Not Quite Right

AUTHOR: Dbettiz - (United States of America)

I have being a First Premier card holder for 2-3 years. I knew up front of fees, credit lines, up front charges. Its notified you in its paperworks which you agree upon before submitting to accept the cards.

You was out of control, with the way you handle this situation. if you don't want the starting low credit limits, fees, and monthly charges just to use the card. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPLY.

This is usual and It's not a rip off!
