I Applied for First Premier bank credit card in an effort to re establish my credit and as this bank claimed. I signed up for the first card knowingly that I will be charged an annual fee of $75.00. Not only I paid the annual fee but as of the first month of the second year I was getting charged $14/month for "monthly service fee". In addition, the Interest rate was 36%. I decided to pay off the card infull every month so I did not have to pay that outrageous interest on the top of the fees.

One month I were making my monthly payment over the phone and were prompted with a congratulation message informing me that I have been approved for a 2nd card for free and for the sake of my credit goal I accepted it. I were charged $100 a year then $8.25/month. I mentioned that to a freind of mine which happened to have the same credit card but surprisingly he was paying $6/month with no annual fees, and when questioned the bank, the answer was that this is the card that I selected.

By the way the bank nevere asked me to select between cards; infact that was never an option. More shockingly, I discovered that if I make my payment in the last due date I was charged an additional expedited fee of $11.00 as a result, I had to choose the following business day to avoid this fee. Come to realize that I were cosidered late in making my monthly payment on time; as a result a $35 late charge fee was imposed to the account. When the bank increased my credit limit, I was charged an additional fee for that as well.

Other unjust terms; if the payment is made by check I could not use the card for up to 20 days until the funds clear the account even after I verified with my bank that the payment was withdrawn the second day I made it. Yet First Premier bank continued to charge the monthly fee. In conclusion, This bank found ways to prosper and make a fortune from those who are misfortuned, by sitting them up in a trap after another. So please be aware of this bank and its sleazy tactics. Never do business with this greedy unethical bank until the government catches up with it or a class action suit is initiated against it whichever comes first. Until that happenes do not be another victim of First Premier Bank.

Subprime borrower

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 25, 2014

You are "stuck" with First Premier because you have not proven that you can handle credit.  As a result you are considered a "high risk" and high risk = higher cost, and higher cost means higher interest rates and fees.  Oh and before you go off on it isn't your fault why your credit is bad...guess what it DOES NOT matter.

The reason when you send a check in that they put a hold on it is because as a Subprime borrower there is a very high risk that your check will bounce, and yes it is still possible for a check to be returned after it "clears" the bank.

The reason your friend got better terms is because your friend probably has better credit..again better credit = lower fees.  Which I still think is funny that you somehow think even a $6/month is a good card.  People with GOOD credit don't pay any monthly, and in most cases not even an annual fee.

As for your payment you made on the due date.  I will bet that you also made it after 5PM which is the LEGAL cutoff time for EVERY credit card per federal regulation.  Since you made it after the cut-off time some credit companies still allow a payment to be credited for that day but will charge you an expedite fee. Oh and by the way an $11 fee is actually lower than the fee I am aware of at other companies.  You "thought" you were being smart and avoiding this fee only to find out that once again your subprime attitude ended up getting you an even higher fee.

Oh and as for your laughable claims of discrimination.  Sorry but the last time I checked people with credit issues are not part of a "Protected Class" such as the disabled or being discriminated againt because of age or sex.
