I had a contracting company previously working on a door installation job for my house. They gave me the measurements for the doors, but by the time the doors arrived from the Home Depot the contracting company dropped out of the job.
I contacted Home Advisor via an online inquiry (http://www.homeadvisor.com/) and was referred to First Strike Handyman Service. I called First Strike Handyman Service and spoke with Moises Ruiz. Moises and his partner Peter came to my house, viewed the doors and informed me that the doors were not the right size and did not have a frame. Moises and Peter said "I am going to help you out", and proceeded to draw out measurements on a piece of paper. They told me exactly what to get, what size, and what to say to the Home Depot. I went to the Home Depot and ordered EXACTLY what they asked me to get. When the new doors arrived I called Moises and Peter to have them come out to look at the doors to ensure that they were correct this time around. When they arrived and viewed the doors, they informed me that the doors were indeed the correct size and that they could begin working on the project. As they got ready to install the bedroom doors, Moises called me into the room to inform me that they would need to cut down the doors because they were a bit too tall, but that everything would be ok. They cut the doors, installed them, and when it came time to show me the doors, Moises said the doors were too thick so the door couldn't slide properly. I tried sliding the doors and the door in the front began lifting like a garage door. When I asked how he was going to fix it he came up with several excuses explaining how he had done extra work on the doors and not charged me extra. Before he and his partner Peter left for the day, he said "I will make a promise to you, we can find a piece to put at the bottom of the door so that it can slide in the way that it should. Once we find it we will install it" When following up with them, they kept finding excuses by saying that they were special ordering something for the door. Supposedly they ordered something that wouldn't work and had no other solutions. I called them several times and each time it was a new excuse as to why they couldn't find the part or finish the project. I had Home Advisor, the recommending company, call them to mediate and they continued to make up lies with Home Advisor which the mediator quickly called out. Upon further investigation, I found out that the company is NOT LICENSED. They are a huge fraud as they lied about being licensed and even stated that they provided my building with their license. In addition, I had my building manager take a look at the horrendous and sloppy work done and he informed me that the doors will need to come down as they will not last and are deemed unsafe. This company is a huge SCAM and RIP OFF! Beware
