Someone from this company - allegedly - called my father-in-law today (3/28/2016) in Tavares, FL. They attemtped to hardball this 86 year old man into buying a $150.00 software package. They had him download programs which he later removed, with the assistance of the Apple people. Thank you Apple.

I tried to look Fixsmith up, but they hide in plain site. Try to call them. They have so many websites. Fixsmith.com, Fixsmith.net etc. If I was their hosting service I dump them fast.

Their alleged address? RSB Technologies LLC 3511 Silerside Road Suite 105, Wilmington Delaware USA 19810.   Phone No.: +1-877-502-3467. That number is no good. In fact they didn't give the correct street on their website. The street is "Silverside" and not "Silerside." And they have many more numbers.

Here's another number: 877-255-3353. No good.

I ran their address. A Delaware Registry Corp came up. I called them at 800-321-2677. A male answered. He said they no longer represented Fixsmith. He declined to say why. By all appearances, Fixsmith is a foreign company or group -- or one guy with a heavy accent.

I checked their BBB file, but their are only two complaints. Same deal. One guy paid $249.95 for free programs.

Keep your money. Don't download any programs on your computer while you are on the phone with Mr. Fixsmith. If you check, you will find numerous other allegations against this company...to include that they have you download freely available shareware and spyware.

By all appearances, this is not only a Ripoff, but a front for a very questionable 'organization.'

From the original complainat: The purpose of this report was to create a trail. I'm not the guy who installs freeware onto peoples' computers and fixes them. If you are in receipt of such services, just know that your computer company often provides the same service for free. If you pay in excess of $250.00 U.S. dollars for such a service, just know that in America, an entire computer costs the same. Over and out.

This is a follow-up to the recent rebuttal. I was the original author of the "Rip-off Report" herein.

I am happy, if anyone on earth felt that Mt. Fixsmith did not rip him/her off. But when filing a rebuttal, make sure you give more details. I did. You can check them.

In short, if you use Mr. Fixsmith, just know that he/she loaded freely available software on your computer and charged you. And "looked" at you and your data.

If you like to spend money in that manner, it's up to you. If you are an open book, then go for it.

You can also call Microsoft or Apple and they'll often do it for free.

And I doubt the integrity of the lone rebuttal.

Fixsmith did what they promised

Yes they 'cold-called me' but showed me lots of hack evidence on this computer.  I have separately deterrmined that such damage defeats most firewalls and security software.  Maybe the faults he pointed out were not fatal, and I had not experienced any real problems, but I use this machine a lot and a couple hundred$ was OK to get it really well cleaned.  A local tech would have been similar.  In the following 2 hours I watched as the guy took over my machine, carefully erased and updated countless files, apparently very professionally.  I am NOT a IT guy.

I have every reason to believe his claims and his future availability should problems arise.  Yes he is Pakistani, and I was doubtful.  So I called my bank and asked that they contact me if the charges are higher than the $299 invoice, and to stop payment.  That made me feel much better.  At this point Fixsmith looks OK to me.
