My girlfriend, recommended that we use Flat Rate for our cross-state move from NY to CO. She had used their services for her move from CA to NY years ago, and had good things to say about the way they handled her belongings. Unfortunately, we have had quite the opposite experience with our more recent move.
On Friday, August 23rd 2013, our belongings arrived wet and dirty, in collapsed or broken boxes, many items were no longer even in boxes or wrapped in moving blankets as originally packed from NYC. The movers were using our bedding and blankets to carry and drag wet items into the apartment. If you were to view the photos of the damage, I am sure that you will find the way our belongings were treated and delivered to us was simply appalling.
I think we have clear evidence of negligence on the part of those who packed the truck, delivered our items, or both.
Please do not mistake the 6 week lag between our move and the beginning of this complaints process as an indicator of ambivalence on our part to their negligent conduct. Quite the opposite, we are furious about the way that our belongings were treated after we entrusted FlatRate with them. We expected much more when paying $4k for our move.
Our move ID # is 594XXX. We purchased the additional insurance coverage on items worth over $100 a pound, of up to $10,000. We would like to be reimbursed for FlatRate's negligence.
