Foothill Shepherds Confirmed HIP DYSPLASIA Granite Falls North Carolina
My amazing German Shepherd, Hyde is my service dog and impeccably cared for. He is obedience trained (off lead), visits the groomer every other month and is a patient at the best vet clinic available whenever he needs shots or heartworm meds. His registered name in German translates to: Guardian (Angel) by my side. I love him with ALL my heart & we are together 24/7.
Born on August 30, 2010 from a breeding between Rico & Gabby. We purchased him and brought him home when he was between 6-7 weeks old.
He has NEVER suffered an injury but I noticed an occasional "whimper" when he would stand up on a new tile floor we'd had installed. I immediately called his vet just to have her take a look @ him.
On May 15, 2013 Hyde was diagnosed with HIP DYSPLASIA, both sides. I was devastated and called Chastity right away. It angered me that her biggest concern was that his "warranty" was only good for two years. I didn't call for a new dog! As a supposedly responsible breeder I thought she needed to know. She told me it must be from his weight OR an injury as she had never seen dysplasia in her lines.
To double check Chastity's theory, I called Hyde's Vet and was ASSURED this was hereditary. It was NOT due to anything but genetics.
Today I posted this info on the Foothill Shepherds facebook page and asked to be included in everyone's prayers. It was promptly removed!
To learn more about this crippling disease search: hip dysplasia (canine) on wikipedia. Believe what you read NOT what some breeders tell you, like I did, before I bought him :o(.
