My truck was taken to Forrest Cate because I did not have any heat. Service Manager said it was probably the thermostat & his technican would run a pressure test and diagnose the problem, thermostat would be around $100.00. I was called to come pick up my truck that the truck was fixed.
I paid the bill($128.06) drove the truck less than 3 miles and I did not have any heat. I turned around and took the truck back. They said they would check it out again.
I received a call shortly after and they said it was my water pump that it would be around $268. I questioned this because I have never known of a water pump making the heat not work. They said they had seen it before. I trusted them due to them being a Ford Dealership (with qualified staff) and told them ok.
I received a call the next morning. The service man told me this still did not fix my heat and that the problem was that my heater core was stopped up and it would be an additional $350.00+ for heater core and installation. I talked with the service manager and tried to discuss how all these missed diagnoses and expenses were way out of hand for someone that has the capabilities to diagnose and fix and that I had already spent almost $400.00 and still not heat and he was wanting an additional $350.00 for heater core and installation.
When he was unwilling take any responsibility for these misdiagnoses that I was having to pay for, then he informed me and this is a quote straight from his mouth "Well, I did not want to work on your truck to begin with". I paid my bill of $268+ and left and took my truck to an independent mechanic. This is an extremely sad and unfortunate way to do business and anyone planning to do business with Forrest Cate should beware.
Unfortunately, I have heard of many others that experience the same thing I did today, but I am at least voicing my today and will help others to be cautious.
