Fowler Pest Control Sent to Collections for Unauthorized Work Fallbrook California

Hired this company for an expensive ($800) pest removal at a rental property. They had to come out multiple times and initially did a decent job. A short time later the problem happened once again and I called them about coming back out. I was told that because it was more than 30 days that it would cost another $600. I said I would get back to them because I was not sure I wanted to spend that much a second time.

Later they left me voicemail saying they would be out at certain day and time to perform service. I never spoke with anyone to confirm that I agreed to the service. They ended up showing up and performing the service which they then sent me a bill for. Prior to the service I never spoke with them or gave them permission to perform the service at the property. I informed them of this and that I was not going to pay for the service.

I started receiving notices in the mail that the bill would be sent to collections if I did not pay. I contacted an attorney and had them send a letter to Fowler. After that I did not hear anything from them, nor did the attorney receive a response. I thought the issue had been resolved.

About a year later I received a call from a collections agency wanting $1300 for the unpaid service as well as their collection fees.

I refused to pay and said there was no proof of my ever authorizing this service. Unfortunately the collections agencies can pretty much do whatever they want and so now I am at their mercy.

Do no do business with this company. If you do work with a pest control company do not agree to anything over the phone, make sure you get everything in writing. Unfortunately they can say whatever they want and send you to dirtball collection agencies and it then becomes your word against theirs.
