In the middle of July, I purchased a vehicle from Frank Leta Automotive Outlet.  They purchased my old vehicle, as this was the only way to create a downpayment for two vehicles.  I was told, upon leaving, my financing had been approved and we were able to take both vehicles home.

Three days later (July 22, 2014), I received a call from the person who garnered our financing and said they needed a little more information to have the loan fund.  I provided this to him and he said the bank obliged and would be funding the loan by the end of the week.

Eight days later (July 30, 2014), I received another phone call.  This time, it was to ask me where to send the check for my trade-in/sold car, as the funding had gone through on both vehicles purchased.  I gave the person (I've documented all conversations, names, etc.) calling the name, but asked what happened to the finance person and was told he was no longer working for the dealer and he had to tie up the loose ends with the purchase.

I did not hear anything from the dealer for 3 weeks, and started to get antsy, as I needed to properly register my vehicle; however, knowing someone in the car industry, I was told often it can take longer to get the title as people do not always send off for it right away.  I made sure to keep all of my documentation safe, just in case I was to be pulled over and a police officer had a question.

August 20, 2014, or 32 days after I purchased the vehicle, I received a phone call saying they could not secure my financing. I was told I would have to return the car, come up with $6000 for my old car, or try different financing.  I was told I could come in with a co-signer, as well, though, now, the dealer said this is not good enough and basically said good luck finding financing.

I received only one rejection letter regarding financing from other lenders they have tried (claimed to try), though none from the company they told me originally and had me sign the loan documentation.  I tried to call the company the dealer "originally" submitted my papers to find my loan document, but they said there is nothing with my social or birthdate attached.  The dealer also said they tried 3 other lenders, but also cited I made what the other person purchasing the vehicle actually makes per month ($1200, which told me they submitted the wrong papers to get the loan declined, though, that's an accusation, and, without being there, I cannot say that to be 100% true; however, it is coincidental the person who told me the loan was denied is using the exact same figure for two people when I make, typically, over $4400 a month).

I know none of this is legal.  I asked them repeatedly if the loan had funded and they told me twice it had.  However, the new finance person said my loan was rejected over a month after owning the vehicle.  The only time I was called was on August 20,2014, or 32 days after taking posession of the car; however, even then, they are required to provide me in writing, postmarked to tell me financing did not go through, as a phone call is no proof.  He claimed to have called me numerous times and left messages; however, my voicemail and missed calls all go to my email and there was no other calls.
