It really amazes me how many people will give a credit card online and order something without actually reading the full advertisement and agreement!

Although I do feel freecreditreport.com is misleading, all a person has to do is pay attention to not get ripped off.

The ongoing membership fees are clearly disclosed on the freecreditfreport.com website. All you have to do is read it.

Also, a big red flag is having to give your credit card# for something that is "free".

This is when a person using common sense would step back and think how much is "free" going to cost me?

I have tried annualcreditreport.com and they are completely free. It's just like the website suggests, once a year you can get your 3 credit reports at their website for free. You DO NOT have to give them any credit card information. You can view your reports for up to 30 days and can even dispute items on your report.

The only thing - if you want your score, you have to pay a fee for that and, of course, give credit card information. I was disappointed in that but it really helps to see what is on your report and file disputes if you need to. I filed some disuptes on my reports and had some items deleted. Hope this helps!

You can order from all three agencies, but it's better if you order one ever 4 months and then you can have coverage for your credit reports, because you can only order from the same credit reporting agency just once a year.
