On March 1st 2009 I bought a brand new Compaq Computer from the Fry's in the store and within 4 month I had a problem and at that it was a simple problem and that was that the Pc was only seeing one stick of Ram when there where two sticks on ram installed in the PC. I thought boy this is a simple problem and I could even fix this myself but I chose not to because the PC was still in its two year warranty as in was only 4 moths old. The first thing I did was I called Compaq and told them what the problem was and they told me that I could simply buy a new stick on RAM from them and install it so I took there advise and bought the RAM from them only to find that it was still having problems so the Compaq tech told me to take it to the nearest service center as it was still under warranty and the was Fry's. I took it to fry's it took them 3 weeks to fix a simple problem like RAM and what took 3 weeks should have only taken like 5 minutes and most people that know anything about a PC could figure out. So after the 3rd week they called me and told me that I could come pick it up and it was fixed so I get there to pick it up expecting to not have to pay a thing as in was under warranty Not. Well not only was it not free but just to get to get the PC off there self they have a charge of $35.00 bucks plus they ran 'diagnostics tests just to see what was wrong and that was totally not needed at all like you really need to test to replace stick of RAM sort of like testing a bar of soap first just to see if it works. At the end of all the Fry's tech tells me that besides the $35.00 just to get the PC off the self or as I call it Fry's rental payment it was $55.00 just for those tests that they ran for no reason and because the RAM Stick that I bought from Compaq was not part of the PC when it came out of the Store the new RAM stick that they put in was another $39.00 bucks bringing the total for a PC that cost only $450.00 in the store to $112.00 just to get a PC under warranty fixed. Put simple Fry's Stores rip you off as this repair should have been free and cost nothing at all as if this was car under warranty and I took it to the ford dealer he does not chard the customer rent to fix it nor does he void the trucks warranty because the customer replaced a lug nut that fell off and replaced it with a new one but Fry's does.
