my husband, myself and our seven year old grandson were traveling south on us 41 through cartersville on friday, march 6, when we fell in behind a box truck, a delivery truck for Furniture Mall Kennesaw.   the driver of this truck was zig zagging in and out of traffic, tailgating driver within two feet of their back bumpers, making erratic lane changes and causing drivers to look for a different place to put their vehicle to avoid being hit.  this box truck is tall, has a high center of gravity and it was rocking back and forth.  i drive a tractor trailer and a dump truck, i have a class a cdl, i know crap driving when i see it.  the speed limit through cartersville is 45 mph, the driver was clocked (i kept up with him because my car was a state patrol car with digital speedometer) at 80+ mph onI-75, he was running cars into other lanes, he came within two inches of the mirrors on a semi and ran another semi into a lane of traffic, forcing the cars in that lane to look for a place to get out of his way.   he finally swerved into out lane, forcing our car off of the side of the interstate and off of the shoulder, at the time i pulled back up onto the interstate i didn't realize until i had trouble steering my vehicle that i had both tires on the right side of my car cut open from going off of the shoulder and one of the wheels wont accept a tire now secondary to being bent badly.  we pulled off of the same exit as the truck from furniture mall and pulled into a mcdonalds parking lot and watched him run two redlights and head south on baker road.  my son was on his way to get his child from us and when he saw what had happened to our car, he went back to work and got a roll back to load our car up and take us fifteen miles back north to our home.  i called the manager of this store this morning and his name is anthony bassey, he actually told me that he was busy and didn't have time to talk to me, but he said the driver, "marco" had been terminated.  i asked for the owner of the store and that is lou chang.  the girl in the office that rode this nightmare out with us last night as we were driving and giving her blow by blow account of what this truck was doing is the only person that has shown any interest and as i said, she was on the phone with us for the whole time we were following this truck until he exited the interstate on ga highway 92 and went south on baker rd.  he blew through two red lights to lose us.  after he ran us off of the interstate i kept flashing my lights so he would pull over and he just ran faster and drove more erratically.  we ended up having to pull off and sit for four hours for my son to try to help us get back home, which meant loading our car and leaving his vehicle and taking us back home and then he had to call a friend to meet him at the mcdonalds to drive his personal vehicle to his shop so that he could take the roll back  to the shop and then drive back to get his personal vehicle.  it was a nightmare.  this was our grandchilds visiting week end with his dad, we pick him up in alabama and drive him to acworth ga every two weeks, he should have been with his dad out to eat and visiting instead of sitting in our car and waiting around for us to all be able to get back home.  i'm going to send the photos and video to furniture mall in kennesaw and i'm going to share with our local network new affiliate as they have an awesome reporter that calls folks like this uncaring manager and owner out.   i wouldn't buy a door mat from this company after what we encountered last night.  it was a miracle that the semis and cars were looking out for each other and giving each other room to move out of this guys way.    beverly coombs

Wow...

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, March 08, 2015

First off before you start calling people names you should go back and read what you wrote...

i kept up with him because my car was a state patrol car with digital speedometer..

The way you wrote that, you were saying the car was(as in the car you were driving that night) a state patrol car.  Had you wanted to convey the fact that it was no longer a state patrol car you should have used the phrase "my car used to be a state patrol car..", or "we were driving a retired state patrol car".

By the way not sure what cars you are used to driving, but there is ZERO need to mention your car is a retired state patrol vehicle.  As Digitial Speedometers are a fairly common thing, but then again even a regular speedometer would be good enough.  After all does it matter if a car is going 81 or 82 MPH if the speed limit is 45MPH?  By the way...if this car really does have a digital speedometer can you please tell us how displays the + in 80 +?  Wouldn't it be an exact number?

But now we get to your "update" and even more proof that you may not be telling the full story.

First of all it took 3 posts for you to mention anything about law enforcement.  But you didn't stop there you not only added in the law enforcement, but now apparently there was a film crew with everyone else having videos that would put some Hollywood film companies to shame following this same truck.

I don't even think you realize how much you conflicted your own story.

There is no reason to be "patched in" with "multiple" law enforcement agencies.  You contact 9-1-1 and the dispatcher will relay your information.  By the way with apparently a majority of the area's law enforcement officials listing to you why wasn't there at least a single police car following this car?

Next, by your own admission you would also have to be going about double the speed limit(possibly faster), you would have had to also been weaving through the lanes to keep up with this truck.  Yet this truck had a GPS tracking device on it, and while you were on the phone the departments you were "patched" into they didn't tell you to stop following the truck for the safety of everyone on the road.  They could have just tracked it and picked up the driver later, which is exactly what they did(from what you have infered).  As it is fairly standard procedure that if the police can follow or track a vehicle remotely they will call off any "chase" if to do nothing else but to calm the driver down.

This becomes a big issue of your report especially after you claim you were ran off of the road..but then continued to follow and keep up with the truck, after all you were still able to see it run two red lights afterwards.  Yet, during this time while patched into the law enforcement agencies they didn't tell you to stop putting yourself, your family, and the rest of the public at further risk...because remember the truck was GPS tracked.

Now, you can't say that you were just following the truck to find out where it was from because again by your own words you were also on the phone with the girl at the company giving a "blow by blow" account, so everyone already knew that information.  There would also be no reason for them to call the company...YOU were already on the phone with the company and they were "patched" into your call.

No, I actually think I get it.  I would not be surprised if you took this "retired police cruiser", and decided to play a game of "cops and robbers" on your own.

But you know what.  Let's figure that everything you say is the 100% truth and you didn't exagerate a single thing.

Why did you then call the company the next day? What exactly were you looking for?  You talked to the store manager who told you the guy was fired.  Who knows perhaps he really was busy..you know running a store, trying to find another driver for his deliveries.  Perhaps he didn't want to talk to some random(as far as he was concerned) person.

Again if If that is the case where this report is 100% true, I personally can't wait to see these numerous people post all of these video's and photo's on the Internet.  Not only that but the report by your local favorite News Caster.  So be sure to post ALL of the links.

the georgia state patrol and the bartow county and cobb county depts were all being "patched" and listening to me and each other.  that's how they knew where to stop him and they had called his company and had his truck traced, it had a tracker on it and his company was able to shut him down, if you're a trucker then you know how that works.  i turned over video and photographs to all three departments, as did several other drivers that were calling in the same incident.  you're an idiot, before you start running your mouth, get your facts straight.  you sound like a super high and mighty a***wipe.  piss off.

You should have your license revoked...

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, March 07, 2015

Even IF you are being 100% honest in your reporting and this truck driver was reckless.  Your actions don't seem anywhere near appropriate for the situation.  So you should not only have your license revoked but if you are really an employee of the State Patrol you should be fired for the danger you not only put the public in but your own family.

As here is what you have stated in your report

You posess a Class A CDL.  This means you are held to a higher standard while driving and are under a much stricter set of regulations.  Yes, so is the other driver.

You were in a State Patrol Vehicle.

You had 2 family members with you, one being a minor.

You exceeded the legal speed limit by almost double

You FAILED to contact any State Agency(I.E. the State Patrol, local police) instead deciding to contact the company giving them a "blow by blow" account.   Yes, there is NOT a single mention of you contacting them, and with your very detailed report I can just about guarantee that is not something you would have left out.  In fact you made it very clear that you contacted the company and you are going to the news media

So yes, this is the biggest issue with your report.  Where YOU failed to contact the State Patrol even though you were in a State Patrol Vehicle.  If you were on "official" busines why did you have your family members in the car.  If it was on your own time, why did you fail to use the radio in the car to contact the Communications Center and report the truck where they could have a Marked Patrol vehicle(figuring you were in an unmarked car) pull them over?  Oh your car doesn't have a radio?  Well you have a Cell Phone as by your own admission you contacted the company giving them a "blow by blow" account as it was happening.

There are laws in many areas that people in certain positions(law enforcement, teachers, doctors, nurses..etc) are required to report situations that they run into that could cause injury or damage.  Such as a teacher or doctor is required to report a possibility of child abuse if there are certain signs.  Had this truck driver actually caused damage or injury(or worse) and you are subject to these laws YOU could have been held liable and been guility of a crime for not following protocol and reporting it through the appropriate means.

So again, IF the driver was as bad as you say they should not be on the road.  However, it is your actions that appear a bit more troublesome.

I wonder if the Georgia State Patrol would be interested in a copy of this report?
