My 82 year old mother was on the computer late last night, and when ads pop up in her email or on facebook, she always clicks on them to learn more. She entered information to receive what she thought was a "free" sample of the product that guarantees miraculous weight loss results. Once she read that this was an expensive subscription program (35 plus dollars per month) that she signed up for with the first shipment, she tried to cancel by calling the number on the ad. She left a mesage on their automated system that she did not want the product. In signing up, she inadvertently listed my email as the contact email through the default option, so I received the notification that not one, but two orders for product had gone through along with a charge of 2.95 for a parcel protection. I tried to call first thing in the morning, but we are on the east coast, and the customer service is Pacific time, so no reps were there to speak with. I listed to the automated options, and there were none for cancelling up front without getting the product, so I hung up and emailed my request to cancel charges and order. I called back later in the afternoon and spoke with a customer service rep who told me that the order had shipped at 6 AM that morning. He would refund the 2.95 parcel protect plan and half of the purchase price, but he couldn't give back the other half until we returned the product at our own expense. He offered to let me speak with a supervisor, saying that he understood my frustration, but he himself couldn't do more than that according to policy. I talked to the supervisor ,and she stood her ground, explaining that in this day and age, product ships as soon as you order. Even though my mother is elderly, elderly people can order from the web, too. Was quoting from the Consumer Protection Act, etc. The bottom line is that my mother will get her refund on the product when she takes the time and inconvenience to mail the product back at her own expense. She will be out whatever it takes to ship the product as well as shipping and handling that they charge to ship the product. This company seems like such a shady operation. I worked in customer service at a Fortune 200 company for ten plus years. My job was to take calls that escalated. And, we were empowered to bend the rules sometimes in order to help the customer and make them satisfied. She (Raquel) appeared unable to do anything to make me a more satisfied consumer. They should be put out of business. I see from reading the reports that I am not the one who had issues with refunds and cancelling orders. Ridiculous.
