When it came time to have my first oil change for my new car I was advised to go back to the dealer and have all work performed.  Given the location of the dealership I originally was not inclined to do so given the distance of their location from my home.  However I was sent an advertizement from the dealership promoting their "Oil Change" rebate on their service for an oil change.  Upon viewing the rebate and calling to set up an appointment I reconfirmed the price and discount (i.e. REBATE) that was offered and given the tight budget my family is under every dollar counts.  So the $10.00 REBATE off of a $45 dollar oil change seemed like a great deal.  Even though the REBATE card clearly states its a MAIL in rebate both the service manager and cashier both confirmed that it was easy and had several options to submit (i.e. ONLINE REBATE, MAIL, FAX, etc.)

So upon my return from the dealership i quickly filed my online REBATE and my maintence records for my car.  After two weeks I recieved an email that my ONLINE REBATE was processed and that I should recieve my $10 Check / Card in 2-3 Weeks.  Then about two weeks later I recieved an email stating that my ONLINE REBATE couldn't validate the service record information and I would need to MAIL, FAX, or SCAN complete copies of the service records of this Oil Change and copies of my reciepts.  I immedidately pulled out my records and did SCAN and email back the information they requested.  Then another two weeks later I get a Letter from the company stating they could not validate the parts from the oil service that were used and that I would need to contact the dealer for parts number information and then RESUBMIT the REBATE.... Really for $10 this entire process / SCAM is a complete RIPOFF and that needs to be reported.  I am sure they both the dealers and these service companies hope to lure their customers in with theses gimicks.  This time i just want to make sure that individuals know of these deceptive practices and DO NOT go into these service centers until they give you this discount immediately.  its not worth the time to deal with this and again even when you do as instructed they still bet on individuals from getting frustrated and just give up.
