on 2-16-2013 i purchased parts to build a computer for a friend. included in these parts was a motherboard, model ga-78lmt-s2p. all went well for the build, but after 1 week, the sound went out. asked for and recieved rma #USA-1340692

i paid the 25.00 to send their defective board back to them, and after waiting 2 weeks they posted on the rma website that the board had been repaired and shipped. i waited another week, then called to ask where the board is. i was told it had not been shipped because the board had "other issues". so i waited yet another week.

finally i recieved an e-mail saying the board had been repaired, and was shipped. after another 5 days it arrived, i went back to my friends house and put it all back together, fired it up and surprise, no display. neither vga nor dvi worked.

needless to say, i was extremely peeved, my friend now wants his money back. so i called gigabyte yet again and told them about the new issues with the board. i was told "it was fine when it left here". i told them it wasn't fine.

i asked for a new board to be sent out, and a return label included so i could send the old board back, after making sure new one would work, i was told no. so, i got angry, asked for a manager, "chuck" said there were no managers here, so i explained what i wanted, he said he couldnt do that, but if i sent the board to them, they would take care of it.

i have since purchased ( at my cost ) a new board so i can get my friend taken care of, but i firmly believe that gigabyte is not going to honor their obligations. i have researched the issues with their customer support and have read many horror stories of people getting shafted by the rma team.

so, while i have given this issue up as a lost cause, i am doing this in as many places as i can to hopefully let others know what they are potentially getting into when they purchase gigabyte products. i feel that since i purchased a NEW board i am owed a new board, not a shoddy attempt to repair a board with multiple issues.

ok, this is an update to the rma situation. wow, it is almost a year and i still have not gotten a new board. they just absolutely will not admit that the service dept is at fault and they dont know anything about providing customer service. i had offered at the begginning of this mess to provide a cc number for a cross ship. they refused saying we dont do that.

in august, they decided they would make an exception and do that after all. could not bring myself to give out a cc number to a company that had already lied to me twice. i told them no, absolutely not. all i want is a new board shipped to me with a return label so i can send the new one back, they stated we cant because once you recieve the new board, we have no assurance you will send the old one back to us. REALLY, i want to keep a board that does not work..

they then offered a refund of the money spent on the board, but i would also have to provide a cc number, lol.

so, i bought this in good faith in feb. 2013. 2014 is almost here and i am still out the cost of the board to replace the bad board, the shipping to send the bad board back to them ( you cannot expect them to pay for own bad stuff ) time spent stressing over this, needlessly sending e-mails to the rma dept. and to the service dept ( dear sir, we are sorry, but we do not handle returns here, you must contact the rma dept). long story short, 1st gigabyte board was also my last, wouldnt buy another one even if the best they had was deemed the best in the world and was selling for $1.00 which is probably more than its worth..
