I find it very interesting that we are in the worst economic disaters that this country has ever encountered, yet the same individuals who are the back bone of this Country, who make up the working middle class (if there is such a phrase anymore) are having to pay exhuberant charges to company who has made a monopoly out of the hardships of families who have loved ones incarcerated. Not only do we have to pay our taxes for the love ones in a jail or prison, we are having to pay a fee to speak with our love ones.  Okay, I can handle that fee, but if you are not keen enough to have your area code moved to where that person is located in a particular facility (in order to pay the normal price to recieve a phone call) then you are paying rates above and beyound what we pay our local telephone company.

Now let's add insult to injury:  We pay the $4.25 or $4.95 fee to use this service.  Then we have to pay $5.95 for a refund.  Now mind you, when you sign up for this service, your card is immediately charged by Global Tel Link.  Yet to recieve your refund, you have to wait 30 to 60 days for a refund.  How many times have you returned an item at a store with a receipt?  Do you wait 30 to 60 days?  No!  Max is two days.  However, when you call Global Tel Link, like I did, I was told 4wks.  I was routed to someone that could not speak english, somewhere in India.  When I ask to speak to a supervisor, I was told there was no such person there.  When I ask where the Home Office was located, they did not know?  No wonder, I was routed to India.

I went to the Global Tel Link website.  There is a number for refund information.  When you call this 1-800 number you are automaticaly routed to an automated voice mail.  This v/m gives you options of putting $25,50,75 or 100 dollars on your account.  Hit all the keys you want too, you will not get a live person.  Try calling from your land line and you will get a busy signal.  However, they are quick to connect you when calling from your cell phone.

I then went to the customer service site.  You have options of writing a email or calling.  When calling I was greeted by an Ashley.  When questioning Ashley  where my refund was (after a month) I was then told that it takes 30 to 60 days.  When I questioned this person about the delay, I was told the following:  "It is first come first serve".  When I questioned about the fee of having have my refund given back to me,  I was told:  "Processing Fee".  I then ask about the refund number, on thier web site, and was told:  "That number gives you instructions on how to get a refund".  No, no it does not!  My electric company charges $1.25 processing fee of credit card to make a payment.  But I am asking for a refund!!!  I have to pay to have my money sent back to me?  

I scoured the Global Tel Link Site at first time use, there is no disclosures anywhere stating a fee will be charged for refunds.  I have never recieved a statement showing the lengths of the calls, dates or times.  What I did recieve in the mail was a statement with zero's from the first month of using this service.  The last statement did not even show the balance, the refund requested, nothing.

In summary, this is what we have:  We have a company that is primarily made up of Executive from the previous company, AT&T of sorts.  We have a company that is not accredited by Better Business Bureau.  We have a company that is taking advantage of the less fortunate, and their families.  We have a company that has gotten away with ripping off the people.

We have to pay our taxes, we have to pay again for having our loved ones incarcerated, and we have Judicial Officials who are turning a blind eyes to companies like Global Tel Link that have created a Monoply. Global Tel Link was in a Civil Class Action Law Suit around 2010.  You can see the response that was given online.  However, the same accusations "alledged" in this Civil Suit, are still being carried out  today.  So, is our FCC Laws and FTC turning a blind eye to companies like this?  There are over a One Thousand Complaints alone on this particular web site.  You tell me who is scratching who's back?

In short, this is coruption at it's finest!  When the States were near bankruptcy, you saw an influx in traffic tickets, arrests go on the rise.  You know why?  Local Law Enforcement Officers were told to get the numbers up.  You get the numbers up, you fill the jails and prisons up and Viola!!!   You have fines, repeat offenders who cannot get out of the system!  They or families have to pay, pay, pay!  Our exiting Govenor inacted a law now, that after the incarerated (who pay the time in a facility) now have to stay another 9 months on probation.  Most of these men and women are coming out with no job, a felony (in most cases), no home, but they have to pay the state each and every month between $150 to $250 for being on probation.  Then when they cannot get the monies in on time or ever, they are violated and put back into incarceration.  This is a money gimmick, made up by a bunch of fat politicians!!  

These kids have no way in hell of ever getting out of the system, once in.  But yet we allow these infallicies to go on, and companies like Global Tel Link to get away with a worse (in my opion),  by Ripping Off the same goverment we are paying to have to Protect The People here in the US.
