Globus Worldwide Logistics is the most unprofessional shipping company in Israel. I shipped my family's heirlooms, including antiques, from Israel to the US after we sold my deceased father's estate. Globus packed our museum-grade, 130 year-old credenza/sideboard by the great American furniture makers - the Horner Brothers - with only corrugated paper and a plastic as thick as seran wrap, when a blanket and crate should have been used. The worst part is that the team leader of the packers confirmed that it would be crated once in the port before shipping. It never happened. They didn't mark the credenza as fragile, or "handle with care" although it is covered with handmade carvings. They didn't even mark an arrow indicating it should remain horizontal for the duration of the journey.

It traveled vertically with movers dragging it on its carved side and scraping the carved lion's feet and the beautiful carvings of its top. One of the sides split into two. They only marked it with one word - in Hebrew, that translates into a generic "cabinet". Globus assumed the English and Spanish speaking movers read Hebrew and have eyes with Xray abilities. The movers were in shock when I opened it in front of them and revealed it an antique masterpiece. They also did not package an antique limoges set adequately and the set's sugar bowl arrived chipped. Another antique ceramic lamp arrived with a hole in it. Across the board the packaging was insufficient and unprofessional. At the same time I was shipping furniture from Norway to the US with a Norwegian company.

The Norwegian company packed my IKEA furniture better than how Globus packed an antique from the 1880s. They also did not bother telling me that I had to get all items above $1,000 appraised before shipping. They only bothered sending me the insurance documentation and requirements after all the items were packed and shipped. The Insurance's appraiser asked me to get the 1880's credenza "fixed" and send him the bill. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry that an "appraiser" does not know that this furniture would lose even more value if "fixed". The insurance process has been a nightmare and dealing with the shipping company has been a nightmare. I even contacted the CEO of Globus Worldwide logistics to intervene. Nothing. Avoid them at any cost.

We came to a resolution

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Thanks to Globus's CEO, we came to a swift resolution. The CEO phoned me directly to hear what were my main grievances. He apologized, took responsibility, and outlined what he's going to do to compensate me for the damages. He also said he would deal directly with the insurance company, which was a great relief. He followed through on everything he promised.
