The Golba Group lied to me.  They rented me a house with major problems and told me they cleaned it up and it was in good condition.  

Prior to move in and submitting my security deposit, my realtor required the yard be cleaned up and replanted and that if so, I would be interested in moving into this rental.  Both front and back yards were dirt and the water was turned off.  My daughter and I have asthma and can’t have a dirt yard.  The property manager, Christie Oldham, assured me and my realtor that it would be done.  I moved from out of state and my Realtor found the rental property for me.  When I sent in my security deposit, I sent a letter stating that prior to move in, the carpets needed to be cleaned and that the front and backyards needed to be taken care of.  We also stated that the power and water needed to be turned on to ensure they were in proper working order.  

 When I signed my lease on August 7th, I assumed this things had been taken care of.  My terrible mistake!!  Upon arrival at the property my realtor and I realized that the condition of the property was not done to expectations for any tenant.  We notified Christie immediately.  Both my realtor, and I took pictures of the conditions of the yard and interior of the house and sent them to Christie.

 First, the yard remained dirt.  It was not taken care of.  I notified Management immediately, to which Christie responded by saying she would take care of it immediately.  It was not taken care of.  I notified her again and she said that she would seed it next month and that was the best she could do.  But it remains to be undone. 

On August 10th, I received a letter in the mail dated July 28th from an attorney for the Homeowners Association for violation of regulations for the above mentioned rental property.  They stated that the owner is required to maintain the lawn by planting new grass (not just cleaning it up and leaving dirt).  This was sent before I moved in.  This has been an ongoing problem at this rental property.  The letter states that the owner must immediately and permanently maintain the landscaping including the revitalizing of the lawn in a green and unstressed condition, which is what I demanded upon agreement into this rental.  The Golba Group did not take care of this problem before I moved in and now are trying to say that it is my responsibility to take care of the lawn.  

A multitude of other problems also existed and do exist with this property.  Some have been fixed, others not.   

We found several major leaks throughout the house, including under the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, downstairs toilet, master sink, and dishwasher.  The plumber was called and fixed these issues.  These issues have been ongoing because there are laminate matts placed under the sinks to hide previous long term damage to the cabinets. And they smell terrible.   

The master bathroom has mold in the shower, the blinds throughout the house do not fit and are broken.  Christie assured me and my realtor she would fix these the next working business day and still has not fixed these problems nor replaced the blinds.

 Christie did not take care of the house as we agreed upon.  The yard is unmanageable and is now rampant with weeds, not grass. 

 I asked to be out of the lease due to lack of performance by the Golba Group.  The issues that I have had to deal with in this rental are unacceptable and overwhelming.  The yard, plumbing, mold, window treatments, and other problems including peeling paint on ceilings are inexcusable.

 Christie even admitted that Golba Group did not handle this property prior to move in and that she allowed the owner to choose a company of his own to get the property ready for me to rent.  Christie admitted that the property was not taken care of to Golba’s standards.  If this is the case, then I should not be held accountable and should be excused from responsibility.

I called, emailed, faxed, and mailed a letter to Ken Golba requesting my release from this lease, but he did not even return my phone call. 

 Golba Group knew this house had major problems including the yard, plumbing, mold, window treatments, etc., but allowed me to pay a security deposit and rent and move in anyway.  They said that I do not have a good reason to be let out of my lease.

This company is completely unprofessional.  Stay away!!
