We donated a Bulldog puppy on Aug 31th 2013 to the Ha=Lo Project/First United Methodist Church to be used as a service for a soldier with PTSD. We were told by Terry Jester ( Runs the program) that soldiers want Bulldogs and not Poodles. We were happy to provide one of our puppies to a returning soldier as a service dog. Tax time rolls around and we need the federal tax Id number which was not on our receipt for the donation. We go to the Halo website for contact info and in no longer exists.

We started to do some research on the Halo Project after getting the run around from Terry Jester and the church. We found out our puppy is living in a foster home and is being used to breed dogs at Terry Jesters puppy mill. Terry Jester is using the military soldiers with disabilities/Halo Project/First United Methodist Church to add dogs to breeding program all the while misleading potential donors that their beloved animals are going into the Soldier programs.

We are heart broken. We do not donated breeding dogs, but we were more than happy to give back to one of our soldiers. When I emailed Terry Jester she tells me she doesn't want into my personal business and she is cutting all ties with me.
So here we sit, no federal tax ID for our donation, our puppy is living in foster care, is being used as a breeding dog and the program had no intention of ever putting our dog in the therapy dog program but to use him in a puppy mill. I'm lost.

Terry Jester says the church has everything and the church says they have nothing to do with it they only let Terry use their facility. Terry Jester is using the church and the Halo Project to cover and fund her puppy mill. We are at a loss. We just want our dog back. Terry Jester and the Ha=Lo project were on the news in May of 2013 for losing 3 standard poodle that were in training in the mountains near Rist Canyon

One Step Above a Puppy Mill

AUTHOR: ICallBS - ()

I purchased a standard poodle puppy from Terry Jester at PVP and while I'm madly in love with my dog, I would never sing the praises of this "breeder" and her mill like operation. Yes the dogs are born outside but are quickly kicked out into a very small shed with very little human contact after they are mere weeks old. There were 4 litters going when I was there to pick out my puppy. My first time meeting my now poodle was less than ideal. She had crap stuck to her head, was neither clean or groomed when I was meeting her so I had dog feces all over me when I left. These puppies aren't socialized whatsoever during a very peak time in their development so that is strike 1. Strike 2 is that she breeds her bitches every single season, claiming that the dam was a service dog (doubtful) but yet she was being bred every six months, so not sure what handler would give up their working dog so much each year to be a puppy machine. This is not ethical breeding. My puppy came to me aggressive, biting, dominate, and with many behavior problems. She has been in training for almost 8 months and still we are having numerous problems with her behavior. I was told she came from working lines (though zero health records or pedigrees were provided) but her extremely high prey drive, it's clear she is from hunting lines, not working lines, meaning she does not work well for service work like she was purchased for, and as Terry claimed she would be well suited for. She is only in this for profit  not for the quality of the dog and the quality of the breed. My dog has an overbite and crooked teeth so clearly I didn't get a sound breeding. Just a poor faded dog with poor behavior, bad teeth, and small in size. She is not fit to breed such an elegant breed like the standard poodle, and doing it for nothing more than profit makes it that much more unscrupulous. I love my dog and wouldn't dream of giving her up, but I regret that I didn't find a better breeder and spent more money on a higher quality breeder that hand raises their dogs.

Terry Jester is nothing more than a scam artist and puppy mill

AUTHOR: We love bulldogs - ()

First of all defending a puppy mill is just not right.  Terry Jester has changed her story so many times in the last 48 hours I don't think she can keep up.  Catheryn Bray is just as guilty as she was with Terry the day they picked up the puppy. Their parting words " we are taking him right to his trainer" Really??? They took him to Brittnay Barella's home. She sent me a message saying she is fostering to own Diesel, she will own him when he's done breeding.  The beauty of it all is I have every email ever sent by this scam artist as well as Brittnay. This is all much bugger than Terry stealing a puppy. We are taking federal tax fraud as well.

If Tershe had an ounce of integrity she would have done the right thing but instead she leaves the Halo project. Coward move

She saw a blue and white puppy and was blinded by her greed. To leave an organization that you co-found just to keep a puppy to breed in your puppy mill is sick. Terry brags about all these veterans she has helped but in a second she can turn her back on them. Now that's integrity at its finest. So for the Terry Jester supporters, just sit back and watch this unfold and we will see if you are still a supporter. You see when something like this is made public people who have also been wronged come out of the woodwork, and they are everywhere.

Very deceptive

AUTHOR: Concerned - ()

The facts about this situation are these, first off Amy NEVER sold a breeding dog.  She did donate $1500 of this dog to Terry.  Terry paid $1000 and Amy donated $1500 this is not the price of a BREEDING dog nor was he ever intended to be used for breeding.  This situation has nothing to do with the people who have purchased dogs from Terry so I dont know why they are all responding to this.  Another fact here, Amy in her contract with Terry specifally states that Terry cannot foster out or co own out the dog without permission from Amy which this was done anyway.  Amy was told by Terry that the church had all of his paperwork and the church said they do not.  There is a lot of finger pointing going on and it doesnt make any sense.  All Amy wants is for this dog to go to a soldier as was the original intention and this is the only discussion that was ever had about him.  I know because I own the sire to this male dog and am personal friends with Amy.  Amy has never been anything but honest about everyting and has morals and integrity.  I feel the same cannot be said about Terry.  Amy has offered to pay Terry back the $1000 that she paid for Diesel so they can get him back and place him with a soldier as was the original intention.  Terry has refused to do this.  Also it was stated on the news program that Terry and the Hallo project have cut ties so that means all Diesel will be is a breeding animal.  To say something about this person who is fostering Diesel is really quite irrelevant because she already is fostering a female bulldogge as well.   There is no need for a second dog.  If Terry was a reputable breeder who has morals and ethics she would do everything in her power to remedy this situation and make it right for all involved because thats what reputable breeders do.

Wake Up

Nobody is beyond reproach. Clearly there is a conflict. Clearly the terms of the transaction were not mutually communicated well enough. If Terry was 100% ethical she would have returned the puppy.  And if she had any business sense she would have Done so. If her actions weren't at least questionable the church wouldn't have disassociated itself from Terry. Wake up.

Terry Jester Honest Dog Breeder

AUTHOR: Joan - ()

I intensly rebutt the comments made by Amy regarding Terry Jester. I have not one, but two poodles from Terry. At first the dogs were just our family dogs, but one in particular has turned out to be a "service" dog for our son who suffers from bipolar and anxiety. The dogs were never represented to be anything but what they are, but in fact, have turned out to be more. They are sturdy, well built, well tempered animals. I know for a fact that Terry doesn't do "puppy mill" breeding and she is very selective of who owns her dogs. Just because you have a check doesn't qualify you as an owner. If she doesn't feel your home situation is good for the dog, you don't get to purchase the animal. Terry has taken extreme caution in the breeding of her dogs, making sure that the animals won't carry unwanted traits. If a litter does harbor a pup or more that show issues, she no longer uses the stud/b***h for breeding purposes. Puppies are born in her home, the puppies stay in her home until weaned at which point they are put in a heated/air conditioned kennel where the puppies have access to a fenced yard. They are housed together until they go to their new home. Not much of a "puppy mill" scenerio!

Terry isn't one to misrepresent her intent. The dog in question in the complaint was one that was purchased by Terry; it wasn't donated. The dog in question is currently housed by a person who suffers from conditions that warrent the comfort of the dog. Does Amy have an issue with that ? The dog was owned by Terry and she generously allowed this person to benefit from the service the dog provides. What is the objection?

Terry is honest, trustworthy, generous and beyond reproach. What Amy is posting is patently false and her motives for such personal attacks should be questioned. Anyone who would question the integrity of Terry Jester, especially where dog breeding and placement is concerned, is suspect and their opinon should be completely disregarded. I would be happy to personally vouch for Terry in any court of law.
