I originally bought 2 hard drives off an ebay bay 'buy it now' auction. I also paid for them immediately through paypal.

After a few days I write harddriveoutlet.com and ask why the have not yet shipped yet. They make the excuse that processing payments through paypal takes longer. Which is crap. But the promise to ship the drives that day.
Which the barely do (UPS reported the drives in their system at close to midnight).

The drives arrive defective. No damage during shipping. They had to have been sent that way.
I write to them and request replacements.

They write back and say sure thing we'll get those sent asap.

I write a few days later asking where the replacements are or where shipping info for the replacements is.

They play stupid.. what replacements?

We go back and forth most of one day with emails.. them playing stupid the whole time.. it was almost if I was dealing with a retarded monkey that had access to their email account.. they couldn't figure out their a*s from their elbow..

I finally write up a large timeline for them to display to them what has happened so far.. what I requested and when.. and where they promised things and failed.

They seem to be simply ignoring this problem now as it's been 4 days since last writing them.. and still no response.

We are sorry if you had an unpleasant experience with our company. As an online business we handle all customer support through email. And also as a business we are closed weekends and holidays, which can cause delays in our responses. We also have several individuals that answer our incoming emails, so each of them may have not been familiar with your individual issue. We have added a more sophisticated email system that lets all of our customer support reps see the entire email history with anyone who emails us.

Unfortunately I do not have any details of your exact transaction. However I can assure you that we do support 100% of our Hard Drive Outlet sales on eBay with a 30day warranty. We have transacted well over 150,000 auctions on eBay in over 4 1/2 years on the site. In that time we have received about 65,000 positive feedbacks, a third of which are from repeat customers. While we have also received around 1145 unfavorable feedbacks on eBay in that same time. They represent only about 3/4 on one percent of our total transactions. And they are a result of either impatient customers that were unwilling to wait a reasonable amount of time for a response or a result of an honest mistake on our part. We have never entered into any eBay transaction to "rip-off" a customer. If we were on eBay to rip people off, we would not have 65,000 positive feedbacks.

Again we are sorry if you had a problem and our responses did not meet your expectation. That is our mistake. However, to accuse us of being a "rip-off", in our opinion if very unjust and completely inaccurate. That is also an opinion shared and openly expressed 65,000 times on eBay.

I had a problem with HDO a while back. They were really stalling on replacing a DAT tape drive I bought on eBay.

Got creative and tracked down the parent company, ICS, Inc. HDO is just an eBay front for ICS.

This gives you a phone number to pound on as well as a real address to send BBB complaints to. I did.

Finally got my replacement drive.

They may have a high rating with eBay but their negative count is very high also. They move a lot of junk and hope people just give up when trying to get replacements. Don't.....
