After routine oil change store informed me I had a split coolant hose from age but next day at repair shop, mechanic saw damage can only be from tool. Heartland Auto Legal/Warranty dept has informed me that they are denying my claim of damage caused to my coolant hose during a routine oil change and their decision is based on an inconclusive report putting fault on my car having multiple oil leaks that Jiffy Lube claims to have observed but which my mechanic never found and of the one he did find, it was very minor and not in any of the places that their staff claimed. Moreover, any certified mechanic can verify that no oil leaks directly cause head gaskets to blow- only overheating that's attributed to the damaged coolant/heater hose next to the oil filter that was last changed by Jiffy Lube on Dec 20th, 2014.

Consequently after service station #980 serviced my car, it began to overheat after traveling a few miles on Dec 21st, 2014. Jiffy Lube staff claimed the damage of the hose was attributed to the hose being old, but neither the managers at Firestone nor my mechanic at Alleyway observed my hose split because it was old, in fact, they verified that the hose was worn from normal use but remained in decent condition, and that the damage was clearly done by a tool- pointing to foul play by the staff at this Jiffy Lube station. Their warranty team cannot even conduct a proper investigation, as they never bothered to contact me to obtain my copy of the invoice detailing the work done by my mechanic, who explained to the inspector that he doesn't keep a computer at his garage and does everything by hand.

Furthermore, my mechanic explained that the inspector only came to verify the blown head gasket and did not bother to ask any questions regarding to how it happened or the damaged hose referred by Jiffy Lube as old, but had been kept after repairs to be available to for their inspection. In addition, their agent stated that Jiffy Lube failed to document as to the reason for my comped oil change at this location. I have photos and observations documented by Firestone staff on their work order and what the damage looked like before it was repaired as well as the invoices detailing the service that occurred at Jiffy Lube. I am seeking compensation but it looks like their warranty department have no intention of finding their staff culpable for the damage on my ruined engine.

I adhered to Jiffy Lube staff's recommendation to drive only short distances and to get it replaced right away- hence, I took it to get the hose repaired the very next day that it could be serviced and YET, my engine with over 170,000 miles on it could not take very much overheating- overheating caused by the damaged coolant hose that their staff supposedly just "FOUND" damaged. This is not the first time their staff are culpable for damage to my vehicle- they admit to installing a faulty oil filter that they had to replace and offer me a complimentary oil change- also noted on the 12/20/14 invoice. They have since sent copies of their report which I will use against them, as their own third party inspector documents their investigation is inconclusive due to the consequential repairs done, unless the engine is dismantled to find the true cause of the damage.

I am intending to sue Jiffy Lube/Heartland Auto for all losses, including the cost of repairs (over $500), the cost to replace the engine (estimate over $3000), the cost of rental while my car's been worked on (over $300), compensation for my immense inconveniences (TBD) and if their warranty department continues to maintain that Jiffy Lube had NOTHING to do with the damage, then I will sue for not only all damages but for the cost of a completely new vehicle because at this point, it is next to IMPOSSIBLE to find an engine that matches a Subaru Forester XT because they almost NEVER need to be replaced and owners rarely ever give up cars as WELL MADE as these. My car has not lasted over 10 years and driven 170,000 miles without some wear, but it was in far better condition before their staff touched it and their company should pay me for their obvious incompetence. Their argument that these numerous other minor leaks are at fault is without grounds, since neither my mechanic nor Firestone note any leaks of that nature on their work orders which I can also provide including images of the hose area before it was ever worked on. If anyone else has had a similar experience and would like to discuss filing a joint class action, please email me. Thanks.

In ANY court case YOU MUST PROVE FAULT! SInce your mechanic doesn't keep computerized records, NOTHING they write out is going to be taken as evidence. No PROVEN time stamp. While Im sure it makes YOU feel better to threaten them online, THEY atleast have the MONEY to handle a prolonged legal battle. Money Im sure YOU don't have. A lawyer also needs to take the case and a lawyer isn't going to take a case based on YOUR WORD alone. Jiffy Lube has covered their bases and YOU have not. That means you go right ahead and attempt to sue them. Im sure YOU can take the financial hit having to pay ALL of the court costs INCLUDING their attorney fees. Its a 20-40$ hose that is an EASY fix if you can work a SCREWDRIVER! Since there was NO WAY for them to know if the filter that was originally installed was defective, and YOU should have held the MANUFACTURER responsible, YOU got a free oil change. Im thinking that YOU are expanding YOUR scam. That's what it sounds like. Your mechanic is also probably in on it as well. I mean WHY have a trusted mechanic and NOT use them. Why didnt YOUR mechanic do the original oil change?? At that point all I can say is good luck and PRAY they don't find YOUR POST! Its defamation and it can cost you. It ALWAYS amazes me at how far people like YOU will go to make it ahead in life. YOU found that if YOU whined enough YOU were given a free oil change. Im pretty sure that Jiffy Lube sees YOUR SCAM for what it is. A SCAM!
