I too have recently been charged with toll charges from Florida as I was in the Ohio area. I was never given "Due" process which means I was not provided with the date, time and location of the toll prior to my card being charged. After talking with Ats, Platepass and Lynn from Hertz Executive in NJ they wanted to just reverse the charges and not look into them having a systemic problem of verifying the car vs the plate vs the actual rental agreement. So ken stop giving excuses!

Hertz or their toll collecting partner must be screwing up. One or the other neglected to remove you as the user when car was rented out again, probably the toll collection agency. Charge back and let your card issuer fight with them and if they don't provide 1 day resolution for you make BBB complaints against Hertz and the biller and let BBB sort it out!

I would bet your contract provided for this.  It would cover tolls, tickets, damage that you incurred.

Same thing happened to me... I rented a car in Denver, CO on June 9th and all of a sudden today I found a charge from this company American Traffic Solutions in Scottsdale, AZ. I did some research to find out about the company, and it turns out that Hertz just gives your credit card number to this company for some toll program (similar to EZ Pass). Hertz never tells you about it. Its not legal for them to give your credit card number to another company. I called the corporate office today and left a message. I let them know they had till Tuesday and then I would be filing a complain with the Attorney General and FTC. Hope this helps a little.

Sounds almost like you incurred a toll road fee/ticket or a parking/red light ticket?
