DON'T BUY AN HP COMPUTER PRINTER! WHY? ... because, in my opinion, HP is Designing Their Printers so that they won't print if a color cartridge is empty... in other words, they are designing their printers to RAPE YOU OF YOUR MONEY, without your consent.

In my case, I only print in black ink. I have always used the advanced print controls to specify "Print in Black Ink Only"; however, with my new HP PHOTOSMART Model 8250, when the yellow ink cartridge is empty, the printer will not print at all. It won't print in color AND IT WON'T PRINT IN BLACK. In other words, it won't print anything until you go out and spend lots of $$$$ on new color ink cartridges... even though the "black" ink cartridge is still full.

As I said, I only print in black ink, but for some reason, when you specify printing in black only, the printer still uses yellow ink; so as the months go by, your yellow ink cartridge slowly empties. It's as if HP is forcing the printer to use yellow ink, even when the owner of the printer specifically specifies "grayscale -black print only".

WHAT A SCAM!

I'm sitting here, right now, with a document ready to print, but the printer display is giving me an error message "Replace the following ink cartridge(s) to resume printing". Of course, it is showing a yellow indicator to let you know that it wants you to replace the yellow cartridge, WHICH I'M SUPPOSEDLY NOT USING!

WOW, I SURE AM GLAD THAT I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A QUALITY (RIPOFF) HP PRINTER. I thought I was not going to regret this purchase, but boy was I wrong... and please "don't get me wrong", hp printers are very excellent and reliable printers. My complaint is only regarding their, in my opinion, obvious, and malicious, intent to squeeze dollars out of unsuspecting users, like me, by creating a printer which won't print in black ink when the black ink cartridge is full... with the bs excuse that a color cartridge is empty.

I wonder how long it took the scam-artist marketing scum at HP to concoct this great idea to steal money from the pockets of average-joe computer users. I have two brand-new black ink cartridges at-the-ready for this printer, so that I may change out the old black cartridge when it finally depletes; but, as you can see, I will never be able to realize this eventuality because the printer won't work unless all of the color cartridges have ink... and I'm sure as hell not going to buy new color cartridges (that I never agreed to use) and reward HP for their, in my opinion, "criminal" endeavor to force HP printer users to use color ink, against their will, and thus also be forced to buy color ink replacement cartridges against their will.

In front of me, I have a perfectly good printer which I can not use because HP has sabotaged it.

Kudos to your very clever ploy to rip-off stupid people like me, HP. Very well executed. Next time, hopefully, I'll know better than to trust my instincts and buy an HP printer.

HP Printers Drain You Dry ON PURPOSE

AUTHOR: couraguz - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 21, 2011

All HP7000 and HP8000 series printers force you to get new color cartridges even when you are printing only black ink or gray scale.  They will use mixtures of the other colors purposely to drain your cartridges.

AND WHATS WORSE is your printer will not print (even black only) when any one of the cartridges are low.  This is a ploy to make you buy their expensive cartridges.  There are 4 individual cartridges that will cost $30 to $50 each to refill.  I have gone through 6 yellow, 4 cyan, and 3 magenta color cartridges in less than a year - and I have never printed in color - I only print Black - Grey Scale.  It uses the color cartridges just as fast or even faster then the Black only cartridge.

I spent $180 for the printer - which I thought was a great deal but I have paid twice that so far for replacement color cartridges.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANY HP PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN!!!!!

OfficeJet L7780

AUTHOR: Deia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 07, 2008

I have an HP OfficeJet L7780 and it does the same thing. AND they have designed the ink cartridges so that they can't be refilled, so I have to buy HP ink.

This person's experience is in no way an anomaly! Don't ever ever ever buy an HP printer!

Buy a laser printer

AUTHOR: Alan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 30, 2007

If you only print in black, why not get a laser printer.. you can print 2000 to 10000 pages befor you will need to change toner.. I have a okdata printer and the toner cartrage is only about 30.00.. the older HP laser printers are work horses and will print 50 - 100 thousand pages with out repair... and toner is still under 50.00 to replace
