My boat has been in the boat shop one day shy of three weeks and never got fixed. By my count based on an average 8 hours a day of business hours they have had my boat for 120 hours and repaired nothing. Charging me 11 hours for a total of $1322.51 and again let me add it never got fixed 26 July I called HM Boats to set up a drop off time. I told them I changed the high pressure fuel pump the low pressure fuel pump the air regulator, the tracker valve and the fuel regulator. I explained that boat will not start getting air in the fuel rail 30 July 10:08AM called to inform HM Boats I was on my way to drop off boat. Boat dropped off at HM Boats 11:30AM 4 August received call at 3:53PM saying they have been trying to diagnose boat for 12 hours but only charged 6 hours and can’t figure out problem. Said they been talking to Mercury support. They say I need new spark plugs which were brand new when I dropped off boat 5 August 9:14AM I called them questioning their integrity and ability to get the job done. 1PM I show up at shop say I want my boat back they say can’t have it until its put back together and say I currently owe 600 if I take it. They tell me they can fix it so I leave to go get them more parts I had ordered prior to dropping the boat off (three gaskets for the fuel filter inside the VST (Vapor separator). They say they will call me tomorrow and they never did 8 August 4PM received call saying they needed to order a gasket for VST that cost $90.00 I told them I could get it online for $27.00 and they said that would be fine. They tell me I used too much gasket maker and some got inside the VST and it would need to be cleaned. I agreed I should have used 2-4-C grease instead and I order them a new gasket 11 August Wife drops off gasket for VST 12:50PM Service manager tells her they will put part in that afternoon or tomorrow and call us tomorrow and they never did 15 August 4:05PM I called and leave a message to call me with status of boat Receive call at 6:08PM saying they will get part installed tomorrow and call you tomorrow. They never called or installed the part 17 August I called them at 3:03PM to ask the status of the boat and they said they will install the part tomorrow. I told them I’m picking up they boat on Friday fixed or not, I’m tired of them telling me they will put the part in or them being unable to say what’s wrong with the boat. I ask them what I currently owe, they tell me we will have to total it up and call you back. Received no call with total amount owed 19 August 11:53AM Received call saying we have good news and bad news. Finally we think we know what’s wrong with your boat. We think the brand new fuel pump you bought is defective and the wiring is reversed from the factory. I told them they are wrong those fuel pumps have already been tested and why would you three weeks later after unnecessary tearing my engine apart would you say the problem is a fuel pump. Shouldn’t they have from day one on a fuel issue follow from the fuel tank to the lift pump to the low pressure pump to the high pressure pump then last to engine I paid the bill $1,322.51 and wrote on the bill DO NOT AGREE WITH THE CHARGES, SMALL CLAIMS COURT Left with boat at 3:30PM Charge me 4 hours $420.00 for Diagnose fuel problem only to call three weeks later on 19 August and say they think it’s the fuel pump you should let us keep working on the problem to see if that is it. They charged me 2 hours $358.14 to install new spark plugs. I have a receipt proving I bought them for $58.56 and installed myself prior to dropping the boat off. They say we seen rust on one of them They charged me 1 hour $105.00 to rewire kill switch. Boat has never had a wiring issue it was dropped off for a fuel issue why would they mess with my wiring on my kill switch. Charged me 3 hours $315.00 for disassemble of VST to clean out gasket maker from when I installed gasket. I agree I should have used 2-4-C Grease rather than gasket maker however it took them three hours to remove three bolts seven screws to spray out the VST with a can of carb cleaner, really? Charged me 1 hour 105.00 to put boat back together? Bill says reinstall boat to original condition for pick up. When I opened up the engine compartment they never even put it back together. Expansion chamber still fully removed, exhaust not connected, multiple hoses disconnected. When I first dropped it off nothing was taken apart and it would still run if sprayed starting fluid into intake, these guys gave me the boat back in worst condition
