Last August 2006 Julio&Julito of Home Tex Applicator of America came to our home to try to sell us a "Paint Job that will last a life time" for our home. They put on a very impressive presentation. They stated: the job came with a lifetime guarantee, no fading, peeling chipping, etc. They said that the nails that had rusted through on the patio posts will be sealed with the "special" primer they applied, and the rust would not come back through. They told us that if there was future damage or problems the company would come back and redo the job to our satisfaction, at no charge. They pretty much promised the world. A little over a year later, all the problem mentioned above appeared. I contacted them time and again over aperiod of several months. It was a pain to get a hold of them. Anyhow, they promissed to come back numerous time but was always no show. The last time I called was in November 2007. Their business phone as well as Cell phones were disconnected.

I called the Corporate Headquarters & Eastern Manufacturing Facility in Florida
(2422 E. 15th Street, Panama City FL 32405-6348 Phone: 800-454-0340). I got the informatoin of the 55gallon bucket that was left behind. I talked to Justin Vickery the claims department rep. He made me fill out all kinds of forms and requested that I sent in samples for lab test to verify that is was their product. I satisfied all requests. After many phone calls he said the lab result showed that it was not their product. This to me was absolutely a blaten lie and an attempt to coverup so they don't have to deal with me.

I will not give up this fight. They must be held accountible for their defective product.

Christy, your rebuttal clearly showed that you did not take the time to thoroughly read through the customers complains. You missed the points entirely. You refused to acknowledge that the product did not live up to what was claimed. You offer no resolutions. You are not worthy of the title "Director of Customer Service". As far as I am concern, THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! You continue to keep a blind eye to the complains and are out to scam the hard earned cash from the innocent customers. Very sad indeed...

all lies from Texcote, there in Bed with Contractors

AUTHOR: atmmagnum - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, June 24, 2014

What this person is saying is nothing but Lies.... as a customer we filed our complaints with the dealer/ contractor ( So. cal constructions consultan, Please dont ever use them they are also a rip off } witch he blamed the manufacture, textured coatings of america... We were getting the run around from the contractor and no support. so we contacted the manufacture in florida in panama city. we gave them everything they wanted , picture , samples etc. The person incharge , shelly martin Never responded to us and was extremly hard to get ahold of her. finally when i did reach her she told me that the testing showed that the dealer had not applied the coating right and did not put primer on the walls. So now shes blaming the dealer but she is still selling her product to this dealer. she refused to give us the findings report that she had so we could show the dealer. This company refused to help us knowing that we where ripped off by the dealer. The texcote warranty department was rude, disrespectful, cruel and not caring. there letter says one thing but in reality thet dont care , as long as they are selling there prouduct, they dont care whos buying it. They blame  it on bad dealer but in reality they are worse then them because they dont care about You and me the consumer. Thats why im saying that the feed back this person is saying is all lies because they are in bed with every dealer contractor out there. they dont care whos buying there product just  as long as they are making sales... what they are doing is a criminal offense and we all need to file a class action suit to stop this manufacture and put all there dealers/ contractors out of business befor they steal from someone else... Stop playing the blame game... if you truly care, contact everyone that has been ripped off and make things right and fire every bad dealer out there......

Tex Cote is worthless and mis-leading its consumers

AUTHOR: ALLEN R - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 11, 2011

I live in Orange, California too and can relate to this issue. I had Tex Cote applied all over my home and within a short few years, it's cracking and peeling all over. Especially on the sun exposed sides.

I thought, "No Problem", because of the warranty information that we were told about. I contacted Tex Cote and they had me send in a sample. They told me that the product was not applied correctly and refused to correct the problem. They did however send me two  5 gallon buckets of the stuff. It should be noted that even thought the Tex Cote rep said that the sample was not applied correctly, how in the world would a consumer know about the application process? How should I know how to properly apply the stuff? Besides the product claims contradict what was happening to my home.

Ok... well I can understand that the people applying the stuff may not be the most reputable people, but the claims about Tex Cote (even from the company themselves) would make it appear that the stuff should not be cracking like it is. This is completely mis-leading the consumers! This stuff should have never turned so brittle and should not be cracking!

Now I am stuck finding a Sand-Blaster who is willing to remove the material. I have discovered that most don't want to touch the stuff because its a real pain. I had two of them quote me twice the normal going rate just because they really didn't want the job...

Its sad that Tex-Cote doesn't want to admit that their product is not what they make it out to be. They should take responsibility and fix the problem, not just throw more product out. My job only costed $5500.00 but its gonna cost me $8,000.00 to fix.  I have spoken to numerous contractors who all say that Tex-Cote is not what they would recommend to ANYONE.

Hopefully this helps. And let me know if there is anyone out there willing to do a class action suit. I would be willing to join.

ruined my moms house

AUTHOR: Bomps - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 20, 2008

I have read all the reports on tex-coate. My mom was told these exact same things. She was promised all the same things and like you and many others, she is just sick at what has been done to her home. The home that has been in our family since day 1. My grandfather, my mother and us, her children have always hand scraped, SANDED, primered and painted everything by hand. Only when my daughter was diagnoised with cancer,(we were just begining the above mentioned process) did we even consider letting someone else paint her house.
She was told almost to the letter everything other customers have been saying. She too, did her homework, we also made sure the shrubs, flower beds , down spouts etc. were cut and or removed before painters came. We are now on the third time around, and the house is a mess. The first time product was applied in two days. they pressure washed, primered and painted. Color applied was wrong.
Second time just applied right color. Everything seemed to be fine until product starting peeling chipping and mushy spots started appearing on siding.
Third time 06/19/08 house is worse than ever, not because of painter but because of the product. We now have been told once it gets put on to a house you can never get it off or you will have a sticky sticky mess. NOW WHAT?
This is not over by any means. I am confident it will be resolved, but how long and how much stress or by how many attorneys is yet to be determined

3/14/2008 CLARIFICATION - THEY NEVER DID SEND ME THE 10GAL AS THEY STATED!

AUTHOR: Kenny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 14, 2008

Just for clarification......
They promised me over the phone and stated here that they offered to send out 10gal of the material but they NEVER DID !!!.

The material not just flakes off. It continues to fade and accelerates the rusting of the nail heads and patio post anchors. Streaks of rust runs down each nail....it is very unsightly. Before this application I never had this problem. All this happened only within a year after the application of this product. The evidence showed that some type of chemical used in the product attacks the metals triggers the acceleration rust. I sent them pictures of the conditions a couple months ago and now it has gotten a lot worse. What I am trying to get across here is that the product is failing. IT IS NOT JUST DUE TO IMPROPER APPLICATION OF THE MATERIAL ALONE. I had advised them to take notes of the problems their customers are having so they can do R&D to improve on their Texcote material. Justin Vickery stated that they are already aware of the problems noted as many customers have complained....but no found no fixes to this date.

I paid $7000 of my hard earn dollars for this investment and its turning my house into the most unsightly house in the neighbourhood. All my neighbours and acquaintances are following this issue and are appalled at the response I am getting. Texcote of America is refusing to help and I don't have the cash to fix it any time soon.

3/13/2008 - HOME OWNER's RESPONSE

AUTHOR: Kenny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 13, 2008

Dear Mr. Production manager.

Thank you for your response. To the general public, your advice makes a lot of sense. However it does not apply in this case. I was not born yesterday. Home Tex Applicator with the slogan "America's Most Trusted Name In Home Improvement". I was very sceptical at first and did not agree with the claims made about the product. The claims are identical, word for word, from this company's website (http://www.texcote.com).

They drove up in their large fleet of impressive trucks with proper company logos. They had proper the documentation, company brochures and legitimate sales and contract forms with the proper company logo. I am a professional and have many years of experience dealing with countless numbers of contractor companies. A fly-by-night company could not have afforded what they had. They provided references in the areas where they had done work if I needed to see for myself. They lecture me on the exact points you have covered. They warned me on how to spot and steer away from phony dealers out there ripping off unsuspecting customers. They showed me their credentials, they showed me a very long and detail procedure they must followed to ensure the proper application of the material (a copy was faxed to Jason Vickery). They offered me a reduced price if I agreed to have them plant their company sign with the accompany brochure box in the front lawn for advertisement. I also must agree to have their future prospect customers check out my house. Only after a lengthy discussion, with all the details and aspect of the job properly explained, that I agreed to the deal. Julio was the field Supervisor on the job. He assured me time and again that the job will be done right and that I will be very happy with the result. I did not have to put out even a penny before the job was completed.

Jason Vickory stated he found invoice records of this dealer ordering the TexCote product from the company. He also stated the company knows about this dealers being their affiliate.

Regarding the legitimacy of the product, I offered to send in samples from the leftover 5 gallon bucket for testing but Justin Vickery adamantly refused to accept. To this day I do not understand the reason for the refusal. The sample that fell off the stucco wall contains much higher percentage of the previous paint than the TexCote. As I have stated in my earlier response, the TexCote layer is very thin even though the company's claim that is 10 times ticker than paint. I have little doubt it had skewed the lab result. Come to think of it, to this day, I have not received a copy of the alleged lab results.

Only after many phone calls and the verification of the information I sent in that they agreed to the 10gal offer of their product. They were extremely defensive and bent over backward to refuse any resolution. I have the impression from the begining that they want nothing to do with me. Again my experience with the product is identical to a previous complain on this site. You can check it out for yourself at this link: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/129/RipOff0129025.htm
Notice that they amitted to their faulty product in the case and re-did the job. WHY CAN'T THEY DO THE SAME FOR ME !!!!. I PAID $7000 OF MY HARD EARN CASH FOR THE WORK....and they are laughing all the way to the bank!

PLEASE PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES....AMAGINE HOW YOU WOULD FEEL!
I DON'T WANT A PENNY FROM THEM. ALL I WANT IS MY HOUSE FIXED. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT. I WILL SIGN ANY WAIVER IF THEY AGREE TO DOING SO !!!

Kenny - One Extremely unhappy customer of Texcote of America!

TexCote is a good company, dealers may not be

AUTHOR: Allegiance Pros - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 12, 2008

I currently am the production manager for a TexCote dealer and I believe that I can help explain to you why these things may happen. This is how I see this basic scenario explained another way. If I own a Honda dealership and I sell you cars I know are Hyundais with Honda insignia on them and later you realize you were duped, then I'm sorry to tell you that Honda Corporation is not responsible for what happened to you. I, as the local dealer, am the one who you will have to hold accountable in court or other.

This is what happened here, the dealer you worked with duped you and used TexCote buckets with an inferior product and probably printed a bogus warranty. Unfortunately there are individuals in this world who will do this to hardworking clients and it should not reflect on the manufacturer of the product.

There is a very simple way for anyone considering TexCote to make sure that what you are getting is to the company's standard. If you are interested in doing business with a dealer, do yourself the favor to call TexCote and verify that they are a dealer in good standing instead of a banned dealer with a bunch of old TexCote buckets they can fill with anything. If you don't perform your due diligence, then part of the fault is on you my friend.

I believe that TexCote is a good company that will bend over backwards for clients when the need arises. The fact that they offered you their product (which is not cheap, by the way) is more than they should be expected to do in reply to something they had no knowledge of.
Also, any good TexCote dealer should have in place someone like me as a field supervisor or manager that oversees the process to make sure that the coating is applied correctly after the proper preparations have been made to the surface. That person should be an internal part of the dealer because in many cases dealers use certified subcontractors to perform their work (which is not wrong as long as they are trained to the 10 steps and proper application of the product.)

I hope this helps others considering using this product understand that the manufacturer stands by its quality as do many government agencies, but please do your due diligence on the dealer.

2/28/2008 Homeowner Response

AUTHOR: Kenny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 28, 2008

This is really getting outrageously ridiculous.

Let's analyze this case some.....

I spent a significant some of money for the application of this Tex-Cote on my house based on the company's claim that it will last a life time...or at least the life of my house and I never have to worry about painting again, ever. However, only after one year, this product already shows severe sign of defects that includes cracking, peeling, fading, rusting etc. My house is slowly becoming the most unsightly house in the neighbourhood. The closer you are to the house the more noticeable the defects appear. One can't help but notice the unsightly and unnatural condition.

You be the judge, did I get what I paid for in this case?. Am I at fault for the product defect? Must I live with the ongoing deterioration condition of my house?. Does it seem fair for me to have to again fork out a more money to hire another company to repair/replace/fix the damage?. Do I have a right to complain?. Is it not reasonable for me to expect some assistance from the manufacture to help fix the problem?

I am not asking for even a penny from this company!!!. All I am asking is to have the problem fix. I strongly feel this company should help me resolve this problem. But instead, yesterday they even reneged on their earlier promise to send out 10gal of the product. Justin Vickery, the claims Rep., had promised to fax me the waiver last Monday 2/25/2008 so that I can sign it and fax it back.....but he never did. They noted in their latest rebuttal that I had refused the offer but in reality, over the phone yesterday, Justin stated that my report on this website was the sole reason.

Where and how they come up with the notion that I am out to extort them is be on me. It really speaks loudly about this company.

Kenny - out of words and speechless!!!

Textured Coatings of America

AUTHOR: Justin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 27, 2008

This homeowner did not do his homework. As mentioned before, all evidence suggests this is not our product including microscopic analysis of a sample sent in by the homeowner. He does not have a warranty issued by Textured Coatings of America, Inc. Still, we have been willing to act as if this were a warranty issue and provide material at no charge to the homeowner but he has refused. This homeowner is trying to extort the manufacturer for whatever he can get.

2/25/2008 - Homeowner Response to TexCote Rebuttal.

AUTHOR: Kenny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2008

As I have indicated, the local contracting company that did the work was Home Tex Applicators. The reps were very smooth. When press for product details they cited the Florida Location mentioned as their parent company, the location of where the product was being manufactured. However, they also stated that they get the TexCote product from a second Texcote of America distribution site in Los Angelesl (5950 S. Avalon Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90003-1384, Tel: (323) 233-3111). Both the Florida and the Los Angeles addressess are clearly printed on the 5gal bucket they brought over and used.

Home Tex Applicators with the logo "America's Most Trusted Name In Home Improvement" plastered all over their company's documents, bussiness cards, signs etc. Did provided me with the unconditional lifetime warranty which I had sent to TexCote of America along with a copy of the label taken off the bucket. But ofcourse they convinienly denied everything...to get me, a lowly consumer, off their hair. However, the more they try to shutme down the more I recent the fact that I have been dupped and the more I want to bring them to justice. They must own up to their faulty product. It is about time the public is made aware of what has been going on. I was disgusted when I saw a picture of Al Gore shaking hand with the company president Jay Haines on the front page of their website (http://www.texcote.com). Is Al Gore aware of twhat has been going on with this company...I really wonder?

As for the sample test results. I was anticipating their bias results so I had told Justin Vickery, the company claims rep that they must take into account the original paint layer that was in back of each of the samples I sent in. That this may throw of the results. Eventhough they claimed that the Tex-Cote is 10 times thicker than paint in all of their product literatures, BEBLIEVE ME, it is NOT. The old paint layer looked thicker and, no doubt, had scewed the lab results.

Only after many phone calls and threads of going public with the information that they agreed to sending me 10gal of the worthless product for touchups. Mind you they insisted that I had to pay for shipping at first. Only after I let them know that it was really an insult to suggest it that they agreed to drop the shipping charges with the condition that I must sign a waiver releasing them from all future claims. I am at that point now....

After a short Google search, I found plently of consumers that fell into the same trap. One identical to my case is right here on this website. Word for word everything I am experiencing. You can check it out at this link: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/129/RipOff0129025.htm

I notice several more complaints have just been added:
http://www.ripoffreport.com/searchresults.asp?q1=ALL&q4=&q6=&q3=&q2=&q7=&searchtype=0&submit2=Search%21&q5=tex-cote&Search=Search

Or just type in "tex-cote" at the top right of this webpage and you will get the list.

Again I will not rest until they own up to their faulty product. I will make it a mission to right this wrong. I have filed a report with the BBB. I will take it further if I don't get any resuts soon. I will even write AL Gore......

Homeowner does not have a manufacturer's warranty. We are still willing to help out.

AUTHOR: Justin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2008

We are Textured Coatings of America, Inc., the manufacturer of the product that the homeowner claims is defective. We are not Home Tex Applicators. This homeowner does not have a manufacturer's warranty for this material. We do not have an invoice that shows product was ever sold to Home Tex Applicators for this job. The only evidence the homeowner has that suggests this could be our product is a ripped off paint label with our name on it.

As with all warranty claims, we requested information and a sample to test. The sample that was tested did not have characteristics similar to that of our product for which the homeowner has a label. Despite the fact that all evidence suggests this is not even our product and there is no valid warranty, we have still offered to provide material for repairs at no charge to the homeowner. As a good faith gesture, we are willing to supply materials for repairs as if this homeowner's problems were covered under the terms and conditions of our warranty.
