My wife and i wanted to take a quick getaway to the tampa area and stay at a beach front property so we woud'nt have to drive to the beach everyday. We have a 6 year old daughter who loves the water, this was to be a beach trip ,so we would just dig in at our resort and have no need for a rental car or the hassle of bringing half our hotel room with us everyday to the beach.
I went on hotwire.com and found what seemed like a good deal at sailport water front resort resort. The website for the resort says in has a private beach, so i thought "this will due perfect" here is a copy and paste from there website "During your stay at Sailport Waterfront Suites, we hope you will enjoy the private beach where sand volleyball and various other recreational activities are offered." According to every dictionary i looked in, a beach has to connect to the water, but not this one ,it has a man made sea wall about 6' or so high at the edge of the beach with huge jagged rocks piled up against it all the way to the water and a sign posted on the wall that says " stay off rocks" or somthing like that.
Basicly they don't want anyone climbing over the sea wall onto the rocks going down to the water, and i don't blame them, it looked very dangerous. After finding out we were misled there wasn't much we could do but get a rental car and start driving to the beach everyday. My wife was very unhappy and i was very frustrated having spent extra money to stay at a supposed resort with a private beach! When we returned home ,the following day i contacted Hotwire they were very nice ,but stupid. They kept insisting that they were not responsible for the info provided on there website because they copied it from the resorts website. I tried to explain that by making a profit off the sale they accept responsibillity for the acuracy of the info.
I talked to a supervisor named "logan" he gave me a reference # 63853256. I placed that phone call on 7/10/12 aprox. and have never heard back from anyone. The supervisor told me he could do nothing for me and that i always have the right to challange the charges on my credit card. If i was the CEO of hotwire i would fire that guy, why loose all the money from the sale when the customer might be happy with a partial refund?
Needless to say there has been no further development since the phone call to hotwire, i even sent a email to the resort letting them no what's going on, no reply!
I'm going to challenge the charges today and hope something gets done about this.
