I had a credit card with these guys and one day they suddenly dropped my credit limit from $8,000 to $305 without notice.  My payments had always been on time, my account was in good standing, and they had no reason to do this.  Furthermore, they never even let me know!

I wrote to them to complain about this and some other problems I was having.  They were extremely difficult to deal with and refused to correspond via email.  Eventually I sent them a letter advising them, in writing and with my signature, that if they would not resolve all the outstanding issues that they were to close my account.  IT had a $0 balance at that time, and I have not used it since.

To this day, they have refused to close the account, and they keep sending me new credit cards each time the old ones expire.  All I'm trying to do at this point is close the d**n account so I don't have to deal with them anymore!

Hey "potty mouth"- F*** OFF!  How's that?  Geez sorry if you were offended by my use of the word "d***" before.  Wow- get out much?!

I posted this so others could be aware of it- that is the purpose of this site.  Unless you represent Household Bank, there is no need for your personal comments.  If you want to talk to people and post comments about things, go to Facebook.  That is not what this site is for.  I will not respond to your frivolous comments any further.

Your comments are so off point.  First, you cannot sue a company when you cannot show that damages have been incurred.  Second, my credit score (aside from being irrelevant to this matter) is extremely good so this obviously does not impact that.

Like I said, pls keep your irrelevant and inflamatory comments to yourself unless you reprent a business or have a complaint to post about one.

What a Potty Mouth...

You posted on a PUBLIC web site, as such the PUBLIC may comment, and you may not always get the response you want.  If you don't like it then you can just not post or get your own site and make up your own rules as to who can and can not post and what they can say.

YOU posted about "other problems".  If they are none of our "d**n business" then why did you mention them?

I have read the terms of many credit cards, and I can just about guarantee many..many..many more than you have.  They all have one thing in common....the terms ALWAYS favor the credit card.  If you actually took your own advise and read the full terms you can see that they reatain the right to adjust your credit limit at any time.  They do not need a reason.  The only thing they must do is IF their decision is based on a credit report they must notify you of that fact.

I don't care if you don't believe me, I am not even here to tell you that is right or wrong...it is just the way it is and the way YOU agreed to when you opened the card.

Actually there are many more security concerns over the Internet than by Phone, but I will even agree to you that a Phone is not perfect.  But if you still don't believe me about companies not handling sensitive personal information over the Internet..just go to your regular bank and ask them.  If they use any form of e-mail at all it is through their secure site after you have logged in.

It is also very funny how you outright refused to answer any of the questions that may actually help you understand.   So before you start calling someone an idiot, perhaps you should take you head out of the vertical smile and actually think about what someone is trying to tell you.

Of course if you still don't believe me then what they must be doing is illegal right?  So why not retain a lawyer and sue them.  Oh, but when you do and they tell you basically the same thing...a nice thank you may be in order.

I will just close on this.  It is odd how you have not used them in some number of years, have a zero balance, but for some reason still have to deal with them.  Because I will tell you that if you had a positive history with them, they are only helping your credit score.  The moment they close it you loose all of that history and there is a very good chance you will have a significant drop in your score.  That is IF you were telling the truth about your history with them.

ok first of all, if you're not a representative of Household Bank, then why are you bothering to file a rebuttal on their behalf?  Do you really not have anything better to do than troll this site?  Get more Facebook friends if you want to chat all day- this is not a message board.  And the "other problems" I referred to are none of your d**n business!

Aside from that, you are mistaken.  Banks are required to do (and not do) many things.  Read the fine print sometime.  And let's see- you're saying that email is not secure, but a conversation over a phone line is?  Really?  Anyone could call claiming to be me you idiot!!  If you bothered to read the complaint, I instructed them to close the account!

No RipOff...

A Credit Card company is granting you the privilege of borrowing their money.  As such they also have the right, per the terms YOU agreed to, that they can change the amount they are willing to allow you to borrow.  So just like you can get a credit line increase, you can get a credit line decrease.  There doesn't need to be a reason.

As for the rest of your report, something doesn't quite add up and may explain why you have this issue.  First of all why would you write them telling them about "other problems".  What are these "other problems"?

Oh and by the way, banks generally will not communicate through e-mail as it is NOT a secure method of communications.  So I would actually be concerned with a bank that is willing to communicate that way.  Because all it would take is for someone to know your e-mail password and start having them change things on your account.

Have you ever tried to call them?

One other thing.   Credit cards are valid for about 2-4 years, so for them to have them send you what looks like multiple cards just how long has this been going on?
