In March of this year I bought a washing machine and a 32 Sony TV at The Best Buy. I put it on Best Buy's credit card trying to take an advantage of the GOOD offer of no payments and no interest for 12 months. On the beginning of June I was contacted by a mail carrier about a letter addressed to my wife, but the house numbers in the address ware mixed up so he wanted to make sure this letter is for us.

It was a statement from HRS USA Inc, stating that my account is 2 months pass due and there was a charge in late fees of $59.00. Next day I called customer service and it was explained to me that there is no such thing as no payments for 12 months and I was misinformed in the store, they always send the statements on time (?) (So How comes I did not received past 2 statements and they did not get it back as undeliverable mail?), they do not remove the late fees, the information about my 60 days past due was sent to TRW, and now it is my problem not theirs.

(167 complains about HRS in past 12 months on this web site alone and most of them about late fees, messing up the addresses and withholding statement, I think it will become their problem),

They are also not obligated to send me a statement, but I am obligated to make a payment on time! I wish, I were not misinformed at Best Buy. It looks like there is no hope for getting my money back for late fees, I'll just try to get 60-day pass due of my credit. Hope I'll do it. But it looks that Best Buy lost another customer, and it just happened when I'm on the market for a new computer.
PEOPLE AT BEST BUY, good luck with your business, but the future does not look bright.

#1 UPDATE Employee

HRS is not concerned about 167 complaints

AUTHOR: Joey - ()

POSTED: Saturday, June 15, 2002

First of all...

HRS has a strictly enforced policy of waiving one late fee, completely unattested for, as a customer courtesy every 12 months. So that is a lie.

Secondly...

Being misinformed is an unfortunate instance, but the terms of the credit program are plastered all over the stores, weekly flyers and website so don't act suprised.

Thirdly...

In many cases, HRS receives the WRONG address from the original application, usually because the applicant has no writing skills or penmanship.

Lastly...

HRS is not concerned about 167 complaints in the past 12 months. When HRS makes a mistake, HRS admits it. When customers screw up, they get upset, they come here and post another misled comment.
