At least you people have done business with HRS. Over a year ago, I requested a copy of my credit report from Experian and found a new item:

"HRS-USA Balance $157, Discharged thru Chapter 13 Bankruptcy 08/31/2000 - 10/31/2000. This account is scheduled to continue on record until 08-2007."

Luckily for me, I just happened to discover it and had Experian investigate. It was determined not to be my account. YAY FOR ME! Well, guess what? Doing my annual credit maintenance, I once again requested my Experian credit report and lo and behold. it's STILL THERE! This bogus entry has been sitting on my credit report like a cancer - possibly since August 2000. Thanks to this site, I now have their phone number, but the credit report doesn't give the full account number so I don't even know how I would reference the mistake. I'm looking to refiniance my home and possibly do some other credit improvements, but now i have to sit and wait while these two companies take their time in fixing my report.

I told Experian I want it off. I'm disgusted with HRS and I'm disgusted with Experian too. I think I'll submit a report on those idiots next.

Feel free to make a rebuttal, especially if you can actually help.

Here's some positive information.

AUTHOR: Credit Resuscitators - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 05, 2004

First, let me say that I am truly sorry for the predicament you find yourself in. Now, let's get to the good stuff! You have a blatently open and shut case here and you may even be able to make a little money off of it; if these agencies continue to drag their heels. Consumers are just SO under informed when it comes to their credit and their options. First and foremost, send a letter of dispute to Experian. Send it certified, return receipt mail so you have proof it was received by their office. In this letter, you should state that this has been an on-going problem and it needs to be settled immediately. Request an updated copy of your credit report also, to verify they have removed this item. They should have sent you one the last time, which would have reflected "no change" in the staus section. They have 30 days to take care of this.

The second letter you need to mail (in the same manner as the first)will goto the creditor listed on your credit report. In doing this, you are covering all of your bases. They should not be reporting it, and the reporting agency shouldn't be listing it! So now, you wait the 30 days for both parties and see what happens. If this matter still hasn't been cleared up in the 30 days, mail a follow up letter to both organizations and let them know that they have 30 days to resolve this to your satisfaction or they will see you in court. Also let them know you will be filing complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and your local State Banking Department. Don't back down!

If, after the total of 60 days, the item is STILL being reported, file in small claims court against both parties. Also file the complaints with the FTC and Banking Department. Sue trhem to the tune of $1,000.00 for each agency for a grand total of $2,000.00 in your pocket and THEN the court will force the item off your credit report.

HRS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO ..strange that companies can make mistakes like these and not have to answer for them

AUTHOR: Margie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2004

Approximatly 3 years ago i had a similar experience with HRS. They reported to Eqifax that a credit card i had with them, and that was paid in full was a charge off.It was by accident that I found this, and when i investigated I also found 1 number on the account was different than mine. HRS gave me such a run around, saying they couldn't do anything for me because that account number didn't exist. Equifax investigated it and then determined it was my debt!!! It took me months and hours on the phone and after it was fixed, i never even got an apology. I find it very strange that companies can make mistakes like these and not have to answer for them.

these people control our lives

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 16, 2003

I agree, these people control our lives. I wonder if enough people could pettion a ballot initiative to outlaw the use of credit reports in their states, what kind of impact this would have on them and the banking industry? I am a victim of credit reporting (VCR) also. Suggest talking with other people and start a mass letter writting campaign to congress and the credit repoting people to demand that they change the way they report and if not, start a pettition to get a ballot initiative and vote the bastards out of business by enacting a statute that eliminates credit reporting.

James Is Right On Target !! ..The Credit Bureaus are in bed with all the lending institutions!

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 03, 2003

Believe me, Banks would much rather lend $$ to folks with less than perfect credit than those who have high CBR scores. That should be obvious to everyone. Lower scores mean more $$ in the banks coffers.

What banks are really looking at these days is INCOME and CURRENT OBLIGATIONS. They want to know where they stand in the food-chain.

If they determine that you have adequate income and assets to cover their risk, then they will WELCOME even a Chapter 7 on your report.

I know this from personal experience!

Who provides the funding for the credit bureaus?

You guessed it! THE BANKS !

Can you see a conflict of interest there? I SURE CAN!!!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Write to the Credit Reporting Agencies and HRS C.S.R.

AUTHOR: Nancy - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 03, 2002

Steve,

Write to Experian, you must identify yourself by providing your SSN, address, and telephone number.

Request the HRS account information be removed from your credit report. Provide the account number as reported on the report, include the explanation that the account was improperly reported as yours by the reporting agency. If HRS provided information in writing that the account was not yours, send a copy of their letter with your request. Experian should respond with an updated credit report (removed entry) or with the justification criteria for allowing the information to remain.

You should also check the information being reported to/by TransUnion and Equifax, requesting all corrections to be made in the same manner.

Telephone conversations do not provide "proof" if your request to have the information removed is declined. Write to all parties involved, keeping drafts of your letters and the responses received.
