Most Jews have never heard of his seminary, for good reason. It has no
building, no watchdog board of directors and no intricate technical
studies of Jewish law, since so few Jews follow it. Asked about his
schools set up, Gelberman, a small, kindly man who lives in a penthouse
by Central Park, pointed skyward and said, God is my board of directors.
Students pay about $3, 000 annually to enroll, and can become eligible
for ordination within weeks or months if Gelberman decides that they
already know enough about Judaism. Major Jewish seminaries require five
years of study, including one year in Israel.

The issue has turned into a dispute in the Las Vegas Jewish community,
where several local rabbis received their ordination through
correspondence with a rabbinical school in New York -- much to the
dismay of their more lengthily educated colleagues.
Bergman and Rabbi Gary Golbart of Adat Ari El received their ordinations
in recent years from The New Seminary in New York via correspondence --
a two- or three-year mentor study program.

movement of Judaism recognizes him as a rabbi. Now he run this conversion program and perform interfaith weddings that is against Jewish law. His understanding of judaism and hebrew is less than any 10 yrs old Jewish child.

There is no one central authority in Judaism to set standards for conversions. Denominational Judaism (Orthodox, Traditional, Conservative, Reform, Humanist , Reconstructionist ) as practiced in the United States and even more narrowly defined by the Rabbis in Israel and other countries in the world where Jews reside, have distinct and different requirements for conversion. They often will not accept conversions as authentic when not performed to the level of their own particular standards and specifically under the absolute and complete supervision of their own Rabbis and teachers. They totally disaprove of interfaith marriage and will not participate or recognize them and Jewishly legall. I am a modern non-denominational Rabbi. I am really sorry that there are Jewish people like Mr Josh from Paramus who believe that there is only one interpretation of Judaism. It's definitely not a very liberal view. Sincerely, Rabbi Bill Kurry
