Hughesnet is ripoff. Slow speeds like dial up. Tech support will not return calls nor will any staff help you once they install the equipment. Saltillo, Mississippi

I contacted Hughes net for high speed Internet service and they installed it on Monday. The service was extremely slow, similar to dial up. I did speed tests and contacted tech support.

Tech support checked speed test and agreeded that it was extremely slow but was not able to diagnose the reason for slow speeds. They escalated this to advanced tech support, who was suppose to contact me within 48 hours with a remedy. No one called.

I have called numerous times, they put me on hold for advanced tech support for 30 minutes to an hour. No one picks up. I call back and the same thing happens again with no one that will address my problem.

I have dial up speed for $89.00 a month! This is a total ripoff. No service and no one seems to have an answer. I now will have to pay for yet another installation fee.

Whatever u do, Do not contact Hugesnet for high speed Internet . Their is no service support and it is far from high speed. It is now Friday night and I still have not got service from tech support and I still have dial up slow speed.

So sorry you have "service" with Hughes Net....

Their tech support can't help you.

They have so seriously over-sold their service that they use "FAP" (Fair Access Policy) to throttle back speeds to keep the servers from crashing.  FAP, loosely translated means, you paid for a higher speed service, but you can only attain this speed for a VERY limited amount of data and then are relegated to dial-up (of less) speed for at least 24 hours.

If you have any other choices, it would be wise to pursue them...AFTER your contract with them is up.

If you decide to cancel, read your contract carefully, so as not to get blind-sided with a cancellation fee or auto-renewal.  Good luck to you.
