worked for the company for a couple of months. could never get an itemized report of how much I earned, deductions, etc. (check stub)

company continually wanted me to falsify logs... refused. was told where to take breakes, where to fuel etc.

was paid the same, no matter how many places I went. no reimburstment for tolls, lumpers, etc.

gave a two week notice but was told that I quit under load. my final settlement check was $81.66 and my total gross was $3850.00

As the perons that sends out the weekly settlements to drivers each week.  The settlement shows everything the driver is paid for and spent.  The drivers also turn in expense and trip sheets, that the driver is suppose to fill out with all expenses and rembursiments.  They list all fuel and how much.  If they take an advance they list that on settlement.  

In my experience when a driver calls and says I don't know what this advance is and then I dig deeper and ask if they used cash advance card then then remember.  

 

As to dispatch and routing, they give you the best option.  If you know how to drive and are smart about fueling and communicate with your dispatcher there is never an issue.  

Tolls are now part of the load and we show on settlement, lumpers are paid by broker and we issue comcheck for payment right then.

 

I find it important that every driver does their homework before making a switch to a company specially when you are wanting to be owner operater.  It is completely different than being a company driver, it doesn't matter how many years of driving you have because it is more about management of your truck which is your shop front.
